$15 Foam Cannon?

I did a small review on a very low cost foam cannon that I came across from an online retailer (PWMall.com). It costs right at $15 so I figured it would be worth a test and a write-up.

This is the unit:

The results were less than stellar. I guess you get what you pay for...

For only $15 it's probably not that bad of a deal. Has anyone one ever tried ONR in a foam cannon. This may be a good option.

I think it has already been tried. IIRC it wasnt great.

About the foam cannon. Seems like the Lowe's foam gun produces the same amount.

just curious, how much soap was used?

EDIT: Nevermind, I noticed you went into further description on your blog.

I've been playing with my soaps at about 10:1, and even with an electric pressure washer I get more foam than that.

You know you may be on to something. When I was using it I thought that maybe there wasn't enough water in the mixture. I might try that tonight.

I don't think it'll change much if at 4:1 you weren't getting the foam you were looking for. On my foam cannon, the water coming out of it is not as pressurized as it would normally be from the normal attachment, but it's enough to create good foam. Not as foamy (shaving cream-like) as SuperBee's, but better than anything I've seen with a foam gun. He has a powerful gas pw though, and he uses a bit more soap too.

Is there a foam gun that will work without high pressure, I mean like using just a regular garden house.

Absolutely. Gilmour Foam Gun.

This one works with hose pressure too. I can't compare to the Gilmour because I've never used it, but the EZ-all (horse washer) works fine for me. $30 plus $10 shipping.

Ever since I ordered it I get all kinds of equestrian catalogs at home...

I have yet to find anything that preforms like the foam cannon that SuperBee has posted about!

My weed and feed hose end sprayer is better than most of the soap dispensers I've seen.

The only one I have yet to check out is the gilmour one. Has anyone posted some video of this in action?

Yeah, no doubt about it, that one foams better than this $15 unit. Which is pretty surprising to me considering this $15 gun is designed for a pressure washer. You would think it would created better foam.

I think it has to do with the amount of pressure being used to create the foam. Like you mentioned, the water/foam coming out felt like it was on the low setting. On my electric Karcher, the low setting (used to apply detergent, etc.) comes out really weak, with less pressure than a normal garden hose gun. So if that's the case, I can see how a normal garden hose foam gun would work better at creating foam.
