Customer traded up his '09 GTR for one of the new '13 Black Editions. He pre ordered it about 7 months ago and it finally showed up last week. So first thing he wanted done was to have it prepped as even factory or dealership detailers love to mess cars up. This one was no different. Customer was also interested in getting it Opti-Coated since the paint on the '09-'10s was terrible. Even though I must say...they VASTLY improved the paint. Not extremely soft, but not rock hard.
Thanks too Joey as always for the help. Had him spend 12 hours at the shop Friday too help me finish the black benz and too get the GTR done as well.
Anyways, drove the GTR too the shop a few days ago while the owner was out of town but did not get started on it until around 5pm last night.
What the car looked like when I started on it..
After decontaminating the surface and getting it dried, went thoroughly over the paint looking for defects and these were the major ones found. As we all know, pretty common too see on new cars, even expensive ones.
Half of the car was able to be cleaned and glossed up with PO85RD and Uber Green via Griots DA while the other half needed D300 and the Microfiber Pad via the Griots to get the paint corrected. After everything was done, needed to get the car rewashed to make sure that all the oils/polishes are off the paint too give a perfect surface for the coating to bond too.
Best way...foam the car with a citrus wash 2 times to help the oils run off.
After getting the car completely clean, interior and windows done and everything finished minus the coating, it was 12:30am. Finally after finishing applying the coating around 2am, snapped a few quick pictures of the paint before I left...
After getting back too the shop this morning, went to pull the car out into the sun and it was covered in a layer of pollen, so back inside to blow it off real fast. While there, snapped these two quick pictures...
Now finally into the sun to get some after pictures...
Then back inside till the owner picks it up.
