11 second Trailblazer SS correction

Hello all,



I'm new to the forum and I've been enjoying rummaging through the posts/archives this past week. I just stumbled onto this site via another board. I have used the Klasse twins on my Integra and now I have Zaino on my new IS300. Imagine my surprise when I found out the majority of the posters here were using the same stuff..........



Anyhow, I have some very light swirl marks courtesy of the dealer that the Z-5 currently can't fill in. At this point I have Z1-Z5-Z2-Z5-Z5. I also had an Xpel kit installed this week and I assume that the alcohol/water solvent mix during the installation stripped the Zaino off. As you can imagine, now is the good time to prep the car and get rid of the light swirls which can only be viewed at certain angles.



Should I use a light abrasive like the 3M SMR??? or should I try the PPCL which some people here are fond of. Or should I just put the Zaino on and keep layering w/ the Z5??? Keep in mind that this is a 2 month old car.

Hello and welcome to the forum.



Try the PPCL first if it removes the swirls, apply the Zaino and that is it. If the PPCL does not remove the swirls use the 3M SMR, it should remove all the light swirls. If the swirls are to deep re apply the SMR until the swirls marks are gone. Use the PPCL, or wash the car with dawn after the 3M SMR and before the application of Z1.
 
What do all the other zaino users use for paint prep?



Is there a Z 0.5 or something? I guess I didn't notice that until now.
 
for prep I just dawn wash and clay. If swirls are bad, I use SMR.



IS300......what towels and wash mitts are you using? Sometimes Z5 works, but if someone is using the wrong towels or washmitts the swirls are quicky put back into the surface. If everything pans out with the towels, and 3 coats of Z5 didn't help,then I would use 3M SMR product (#39009), dawn wash, and then Z1 and Z5 away.........



What color is the integra that you using the KLASSE on? IS your IS300 BLACK? How about a quick comparo on shine between to the two!
 
The swirls are very light, you can only see them at a certain angle. I'm sure some are on the polish layer. Anyway, since I'm starting over and reapplying the Zaino, I wanted to make sure I'm prepping the paint right. I'll get both the PPCL and the 3M SMR. Heh heh.



Detailking........ I'm using the absorber...... although on my last wash I tried a cannon/fieldcrest bath towel I had lying around. I must say that this was sooo much better. More area=less drying time. I just lay the towel and the water gets absorbed. No need to wipe back and forth. I'm also using a cotton chenille pad for the wash.



BTW, my 99 Integra's color is the flamenco black pearl. I had Klasse on it topped off with Blitz. I must say I like the Zaino better. I'll try the Klasse again on an Acura TL.
 
This Trailblazer SS came to me from a local forum member and long time friend. This is his wife's daily driver which she also races at the dragstrip. Has intake, LT headers, Corsa exhaust and a 100 or 150 shot of nitrous (depending on what jets are in it at the moment). He wanted a 2 step correction to get above 75% correction and I think we safely accomplished that Overall I'd say its 85-90% correction. -Gloss-It Machine Gloss on LC white via PCXP
-Gloss-It Machine Gloss on LC black via PCXP
-Menzerna 85rd on LC blue

Nice work.

Aren't the non-HT LC Red / Blue pads identical ? You used blue with 85RD and red with the LSP. Or, is that your way to segregate pad usage?

I wasn't sure what this thread was going to be because I interpreted the title as saying "11 second correction on a Trailblazer" :D I was scared it was going to be a wreck pic or something. My wife had a white TBSS for awhile. I always wanted her to get a black one. I think they look great.

Nice job on the "longer than 11 second correction" hehe
