1000p

I have a question. I want to exchange a sample of 1000p for a sample of Pink Wax with another member here.

Obviously both come in tin. How would you go about doing this? Just scrape some off with a knife and put in a zip lock? If you did it like that, how would you apply it to the applicator? Would mailing it be a problem?

Yes, and thanks again for sending it.

I posted my results in another thread, but I don't recall exactly where that was. Anyway, I like OID a lot. In terms of looks/gloss, I think that it gives 425 a run for its money. It doesn't seem to be quite as slick as 425 though.

The biggest issue to me was usability. It didn't seem to want to wipe of cleanly as easily as the 425, and would streak a bit. I felt like I had to wipe off OID instantly, whereas you had a little more leeway with 425.

So, I still like 425 better, but not by a ton. OID is a very good ID, and the price is hard to beat!
Exactly my thoughts. Guess I like the smell and color of 425 better. LOL not a good reason, but I have 2 gallons of that pink stuff.

Can you layer 1000p on top of UPGP?

I have a few coats of UPGP on my SUV and would hate to strip that off, even though the Prepsol and body shop thinners I have will take it right off.

By all means, you can top UPGP with any nuba. 1000 should be a good topper for UPGP from all the feed back. I topped UPGP with Fuzion X2, but no noticeable difference. Why not keep using UPGP as it only takes a few minutes to do your entire SUV?

Anyone?

I'd hate to start a whole new thread on this question......

Why would anyone want to add to UPGP? I can certainly see using something else entirely, but why add anything on top of such a wonderful look, feel, and durability?

That one has me stumped, Rob. 1000p is so dang hard, I don't see how it would be possible to try and put hard small strips of 1000p on an applicator pad, then on a car. I have a hard enough time getting it on an applicator right off the big lump in the tin...

+1 I put 2X Fuzion to see what a nuba would look like over UPGP and it really didnt add much to the appearance. UPGP only takes a few minutes to apply and a 4oz bottle will last forever vrs. a couple of hours to apply Fuzion @ $175 a jar.

Yep, that's exactly my concern too Supe. Even if I could get it out, and into some kind of container, getting it on the applicator would be pretty difficult. And...it seems that you might have to put quite a bit of it in there to even make it possible to get on the applicator.

Rob, why don't you just buy a can of 1000p? I bet that you won't regret for buying this great product. Or you can ask for small sample from Finsh Kare since you do buy so many item from them before.

Rob has a can of 1000P, he's just trying to figure out how to give some out as a sample to another Autopian. Sending shavings from the lump in the can probably wouldn't work very well.

I'm the one trading Rob some of my Pink Wax for some of his 1000p. What about shaving some off into a metal container and then putting it in a low oven (250F) to melt into an even layer? What sort of metal container would you use though?

1000P isn't really a wax, though. It probably would be ok to do what you suggest with a real carnauba wax, but you'd actually be melting plastic; 1000p is a sealant. Whether or not it would work correctly after melting is anyone's guess.

Exactly!

I like thinking outside the box like this, but I would be concerned about the negative impact on the product for the reason stated by SuperBee.

It's much easier to trade samples of liquid sealants, ain't it?! :doh

just received my 1000p today. cant wait to use it !

do you guys use a foam applicator (those tiny yellow ones ? )

is it better to be used dry as is or to spritz with either water or qd ?

I find myself falling into the trap of applying waxes rather thickly... hopefully I wont this time round. but if so, will it be hell to remove the thick spots ? would spraying some qd such as ocw, oid or 425 make it easier to buff off if that happens ?

Yes, I use the yellow foam applicator to apply the 1000p.

I don't spritz it with a QD, I just put the pad into the tin of 1000p and twirl it around a bit to coat the pad.

Try to avoid applying it too thick. Use good lighting to help aid in that process.

In the few places where I have applied it thick, it is a little more difficult to remove, but not by a lot. Let it dry for 15 minutes before removing.

Let us know how it goes and what you think.

Sorry Rob i am bit blur due to my school assignment. By the way, do you have pink wax as well? I don't own it, but try it before. It do make the paint deeper and warmer, a totally different result compare to 1000p, i think it is worth to own although its durability is not that good compare to 1000p.
