1000p

Thought I would post a couple of pictures of my wifes SUV with 1000p x 2:

I like this stuff! :)

VERY nice - but surely I dont need another LSP :hairpull

Rob - LOVE the gloss and wetness on that dark silver colour, which is close to my Saab steel grey IMHO. Does it make much difference on that colour if you top it with Pink Wax?

nice work Rob !

I'm thinking of getting the 1000p and pink wax too. new toys to try out .

how would you rate the ease of application and removal ?

what about the smell ?

wondering if i should just get the 1000 p or the pink wax, or maybe both...hmm

one thing for sure is that i will only be able to apply a layer once a week. doubt i will have the time to apply 2 coats at once...

PW is easy on/off. A joy to use. 1000P is such a hard wax a little more effort is required to apply but comes of very easy.

Scent isn't the strong suit of these 2 FK products. To be honest, PW smells like an oil refinery. The 1000P has more of a neutral smell.

They have very different characteristics as far as final look goes. They aren't expensive and if you purchase direct from FK, shipping is always $4.99. I suggest buying them both. Might as well add some 425 while you are at it.

I haven't tried the PW.....yet. I tend to shy away from carnauba waxes because of the dust attraction. That said, I may very well add some PW to my next FK1 order.

The 1000p is fairly easy to apply and remove, but not the easiest. On a scale of 1-5, with 5 being the easiest to apply and remove, I would give it a 3.5 to 4.0.

I leave it on exactly 15 minutes and remove (the instructions say 10 to 15 minutes). If you leave it on any longer, it does get more difficult to remove.

Regarding the smell of 1000p, I agree with etml12, the 1000p is a fairly neutral smell, if not with a slight solvent type scent.

As for application of two coats, I applied them one week apart myself, so that shouldn't be a concern. I definitely noticed an improvement in looks with the second coat.

That's a seriously good lookin' finish! Typical 1000P!

I really do like this product a lot. The main reason I put this on my wife's SUV was because of the reviews (including yours) talking about how well it protects the paint. Being able to combine that attribute with excellent looks is really the icing on the cake. :up

Rob,

It looks awesome! Still don't know when I'll get to my vette or my wife's Lexus. I've probably got a couple of sealant/wax combos on both vehicles. Honestly, I don't remember the order & combination of products I have on either one. Knowing that, how would I strip down both vehicles to start fresh? Would a heavy concentration of CG CW&G be sufficient or would I need to follow that with IPA/h2o wipedown or something else like prep-sol?

Good question, and I am not sure of the answer. I doubt that just IPA would be sufficient, and I am not familiar with CW&G.

Hopefully one of the other experts here can respond.

CW&G at high concentrations does a great job of removing LSP's. However, it also leaves a rinsing agent behind. I follow up the CW&G with a good IPA wipedown to remove whatever LSP residue and rinsing agents are left behind. The car finish will literally be squeaky clean after using CW&G and an IPA wipedown.

Thanks Rob & SuperBee364,

Don't want to hijack the thread, I just want to make sure I start clean when I apply the 1000-P and PW. I'll probably follow up with FK 425. CG CW&G is Chemical Guys Citrus Wash & Gloss shampoo.

Be sure to follow up in this thread with your impressions! :xyxthumbs

I'll do it. I probably won't get to either one until Memorial Day week. (taking some vacation - :woohoo: )

I added coat #3 of 1000p to my wifes SUV today (about 4 weeks since the last coat I believe). I swear it still improved the looks, and I thought it looked pretty damn good after washing it today.

So, just how many layers of 1000p can you put on and continue to notice improvement? I would guess that I am there now....but I thought that after coat number 2!

The main thing that I noticed today was how it seemed to make the paint "brighter".

Rob....I like the 1000P and PW combo....the PW adds some extra depth to the paint...and its not a dust magnet like other waxes..I think its a combo of wax and a polymer ...PW adds some nice slickness also...not quit as durable as 1000P ..but very close...but the added look is real nice...

also 1000P over 2180 looks great also then topped with PW....super looks...

FK products are over looked a lot..they do make some nice stuff...wish they would bring back the FX-100..that was the icing on the cake....

Thanks for the comments Al. Since PW does not attract dust to the same degree as most carnauba waxes, I will definitely be trying it. The potential for dust attraction was the only thing that was keep me from trying it.

Off subject, but have you had a chance to use OID yet, if so, how did you like it compared to FK425?

Yes, and thanks again for sending it.

I posted my results in another thread, but I don't recall exactly where that was. Anyway, I like OID a lot. In terms of looks/gloss, I think that it gives 425 a run for its money. It doesn't seem to be quite as slick as 425 though.

The biggest issue to me was usability. It didn't seem to want to wipe of cleanly as easily as the 425, and would streak a bit. I felt like I had to wipe off OID instantly, whereas you had a little more leeway with 425.

So, I still like 425 better, but not by a ton. OID is a very good ID, and the price is hard to beat!
