1 step Polish for family/friend's cars

I want to be nice and detail some of my family's cars but time is limited.

What is a good 1 step polish that will get rid of moderate swirls?

I want to wash, clay, polish, LSP.

Thanks

Detail1- I could never get the ready-to-wax finish I want with just #83, even on hard clear.

For a one-step before wax, I *ALWAYS* use/recommend 1Z Paint Polish.

Note that I have scads of polishes on the shelf, including OCP and #80...they just gather dust while I use 1Z instead.

Back when I was doing cars for friends/family, I did 1Z Paint Polish topped with Collinite, and I still do this on service loaners that I can't resist working on (note that I don't spend an extra minute on cars like that, I want the quickest/easiest process possible).

For cars where correction wasn't really required, I used to use Autoglym SRP topped with the Collinite, but eh...the 1Z does more and isn't much more work so I'd go that route.

Meg's #80 gets my vote... very easy to work with in any environment/temperature, minimal to no dusting, great at moderate swirl removal and finishes down lsp ready with 8006 pad (with rotary mostly cuz with PC pad can leave some marring on some soft paints) on pretty much any finish

wfedwar- Did they ever start selling #66 in smaller-than-gallon sizes?

I can't remember if #66 stains trim or not  That's another reason I like the 1Z so much..

True one step (polish and seal at the same time) that has decent durability would be Optimum Poli-Seal. Use with an orange cutting pad on hard paint, polishing pad on softer paint. Meguiars #151 is supposed to have really good cut but durability (from what I hear) is about a month.

One polishing step then seal, either Meguiars #80 for softer paints, Optimum Compound on harder paints. You can also use 3M Ultrafina for light defects via rotary.

Yup, they've been selling it like that for a while now... 12oz. for $5... Meguiars Mirror Glaze #66 Quick Detailer M6601

I really hate working with it though... it just doesn't feel like a normal Meg's polish... maybe I'm weird but I've been working with 80, 83, 82 for 3+ years now and the rest for over 2 years... just tried 66 a few weeks ago for a couple hours and absolutely hated it...

If your doing it for friends, I would go with a true one step like Polyseal, klasse, Menzerna Acrylic Jacket, Werkstatt, etc etc. They are all good. Then I would hit it with a spray on walk away product like Optiseal. I like my friends but I'm not slavin on there cars all day unless they are throwin a couple George Washingtons my way. In other words as quick and fast as possible

My fave one-steppers are the Poli-Seal and Finish Kare 215.

But if I had to use a polish without protection package which can be used for moderate defects then it would be 3.02, Scholl S17, eventually M80 (milder), Optimum Compound. Menzerna's new Power Finish is a fascinating product but I haven't tried it personally.

lecchilo- Thanks for the info on the 12 oz. #66. But if you hate using it, I dunno if I'd wanna use it on some freebie job....I'd rather use a product that's more enjoyable.

Don't get me wrong, I've been hearing nothing but great things about it pretty much, which is why I finally ended up deciding to try it... maybe I need to give it some more time to 'grow' on me, but it just didn't feel the same as M83 and/or M80... I used it when I was experimenting and doing some videos a couple weeks ago so while it wasn't too long I was working with other polishes (M83, M80, SIP, IP, 106ff, etc..) during the same time and can easily say M66 was my least favorite product... Just give it a shot with your next Meg's order, if there is one, as it's only $5... hell I'll even send you this if you PM me so you can try it out..
