1 coat = 1 towel?

I just bought 3 MF towels from YoSteve hoping that would be enough detail one car for the whole day. I plan on putting 2 coats BF polish and 3 coats of BF protectant. One of my towels will be used to dry the car, so that leaves me with 2 towels (1 for polish, 1 for protectant).



Do you guys usually go through one towel per coat? If not, what is the average number of coats you can use on 1 MF towel?

[/b]</blockquote>I typically use several towels to follow up after drying with an Absorber (or blowing dry with a leaf blower), and several towels to remove each coat of sealant (Zaino, in my case). I'm probably just being too obsessive/compulsive about it, but I use a lot of towels . . . three would be enough for me to dry just door jambs. I easily go through close to 10 towels on the average "detail day" (wash/dry/layer of sealant). That doesn't mean that <strong class='bbc'>you'll[/b] need to . . . I probably grab a new towel more frequently than most.

I usually end up using 1 16x16 MF per coat. But then again, I go through a lot of MF's when using Zaino because I use 2 MF's to apply QD before Z-5 and then 2 more MF's after Z-5.



I'm probably not nearly as thorough as Tortoise, so if I was able to do back to back coats of Zaino, I would have probably used the same towel to buff off both coats. But then again, that's Zaino. Haven't tried BF yet.
 
they are our friends.........they do good work..they treat our paint so nice......dont use a dirty one.take a clean one out and give him...or her a chance to show you how good they are.....all they want to do is please us.........just give them all a chance...dont play favorites..........USE"UM:bounce................especially yosteve's........DISCLAIMER:::::

i am in no way affiliated with steve...yosteve...jasons detailing corner or any of their relatives...yes i did buy his towels....but i have neatitems...CMA and others...steve;s are the best....ecept for the original miracle towel.which i think this(steve;s) is anyway....so this is in now way suggesting that you go to steve's website but ...thats....the only way to get them..........:eek:
 
When in towel rut! do this :)



Dry intially with towel #1, it'll get pretty wet. Wring frequently as you're going around the whole car (make sure to get off all the big water drops) streaks will be left (don't do this in the sun otherwise the streaks will dry!). Go over the again if you didn't get all the big drops off.



Then with towel #2 finish up to a dry finish.



Use the #2 for removing AIO haze.



Use the #1 towel (wring out very well!!!!) to remove the SG, follow up with towel #3 (dry).



Continue to do this through every coat of SG (as many times as you wish), #1 (the barely damp one) to get the SG off, finish to smooth perfection with #3.



Make sure to wash your towels.

Thanks for the tip! Sounds like a very good plan. So when should I expect my towels from you?
 
I go through about 10 towels, too. This reduces the chances of rubbing the car with a dirty towel. Also, a clean towel will take sealant off the car more easily, clean windows better, etc.
