08 Minivans

I know they're not the most exciting of subjects, but I was looking though a Grand Caravan brochure and was pretty impressed with some of the new features available on the 08 models. The Sirius TV option surprised me most. I'm a little disappointed things like this weren't available when I was kid.

I know what ya mean! I really like the features on the Chrysler Town and Country. But with those features come a hefty price tag as well...up to $37k! :soscared:

Chrysler has long been king of minivans until the latest renditions of the Sienna and Odyssey. But I think they're back on top with these new mini's. They're very impressive, reasonably priced, extremely safe, and packed with awesome features(swivel seats in rear with table, sat. TV, dual monitors, stow n go etc...)

Having said that, I don't think I'd ever own a minivan, but I do recommend vehicles alot, and they are the new recommended minivan.

Oh, I can't believe I didn't mention the stow n go/swivel seat option! All in all, it says there are 35 new/improved features. Joshua's right, the options can get expensive, but it looks like their making it possible to get more for the money than in years past. I'm also impressed with the safety ratings too (something that I guess should trump everything else;) ).

My neighbour ordered a 08 dodge van, not in yet but sounds nice..

With GM and Ford not making the mini van it's all dodge unless you go import.

The Swivel&Go is pretty neat on the new Dodge/Chryslers. The new 4.0 also does real well. We had an 04 Freestar. It was pretty good. The 3.9 was real torquey. However, I don't think I will ever go back to a minivan. All the current minivans have pretty impressive powertrains. Even check out the Korean ones. You may be surprised.

I had an 07 T&C in yesterday and even that was nice. The mother that owned it was going on and on about the 08 T&C saying she may already trade it in for one.

I agree!

I only have two kids so the swivel seats wouldn't do us much good. It's a neat idea though. I will say that you owe it to yourself to drive an Odyssey before you put down the cash.

no biggie,, but just FYI, ya cant get both stow n go, and swivel.....its one or other...for now!

The Odyssey recently won the shootout again (either in C&D or MT). If you want a fat minvan, the Sienna was the quickest. If you want to buy much under sticker, by American or Korean.

Really good review on the new Caravan sounds like a safe bet. Combine with the new warranty and you cant go wrong.

Read a few reviews myself the last few days. All looked pretty good. I've also seen a few blog postings raving about the interior space and storage as well as how well it handles for a large minivan.

What do you think about the new standard Powertrain warranty? I think its great. Has Chrysler always had the lifetime standard?

No, Chrysler just introduced the Lifetime Powertrain warranty maybe 1-2 months ago. Previously they had a 7/70k and before that it was 7/100k for the Powertrain.

I just read a test about the new minivans. They liked alot about the new Chrysler minivans, but said the interior felt very cheap.

No doubt. The Odyssey is unarguably the true King/Queen of minivans. Features and all aside, if any of you have ever driven an Odyssey - you know what I'm talking about. EXCELLENT, classy interior with very good driving dynamics for a minivan. Very classy design elsewhere.

The new T/C is good, a significant improvement on the previous generation - but unfortunately, Dodge still has yet to learn that a Rubbermaid interior, regardless of design, just isn't the best way. Of course, that's my opinion - I know people who actually like the feeling of living in a hard, plastic box  .

If you look past the interior, though (which is hard to do - afterall, where do you spend time with the car?), the 08 TC is a solid van.

Regardless, if I was forced to buy a minivan, I'd buy a new Odyssey without thinking about it twice.
