07 camry se

heya i'm new to the detailing scene..

i am about to go to college as well, and i just bought a brand new 07 camry se and need some good protection for it:

can you tell me some good products to use on it and protect it for the semester.

also where to find them, guessing autozone?

oh ya the color of the car is metallic silver, it only has 200 miles on it atm.

I love the new camrys. As far as where to get the products Auotzone isn't bad but you might want to check out if you have Murray's near you. They have a bigger selection that Autozone does at least where I live.

I also have an 07 Camry SE metallica blue

right now I have fk products on it

I detailed an 07 Camry Hybrid last week and I used Klasse AIO and topped it with collinite 845 insulator wax and it looks awesome and with have excellent durability

can you tell me the products you used and in what order

bc i want to protect it for about 4 months if that's even possible

thanks

on the silver camry i washed the car the used Klasse AIO which is a paint cleaner with an acrylic sealant in it

then i used Collinite 845 witch is a semi liquid wax with very good durability and the car looked very gloss and wet

I think that combo would be the simplest with excellent durability and look great you should get 4 months of protection that youir looking for

on my car I used Fk's 2180 sealant X3 and fk's pink wax X3 because i had just gotten the products and wanted to test them. I think I will try something different to try to get my flake to pop more next time

Boom, you'll do yourself a favor if you actually read the posts here. I'll admit, I saw your post on 03graphicrt's thread about taking his car to college and decided not to bother answering because another poster and I had just answered the same question just a couple posts above your's in that thread. Now you're asking atticdog a question about what order to use products on that already he said he used on seperate cars.

I'm glad to hear you want to take care of your new car, that's the Autopian way. ;) There's loads of great info and knowledge here, I hope you truly benefit from it.

don't have the porter cable 7424 is that the best buffer? :P

thanks for the links man

also since i don't have the blue ribbon one i don't need to do the fk step?

sorry to keep bothering you bud.

but can those be hand applied or via the porter cable 7424?

Either one will work fine. Remember to use very thin coats of wax, most people use too much even when they think they're going thin. Oh, and I prefer foam applicator pads over the MF ones. The ones from Meguiars are fine and you can usually get them at Walmart or about any auto parts store.

BTW, your experience with swirls and scratches straight from the dealer sadly seems to be the norm, not the exception. It's not just Toyota or your local dealer. Many Autopians have their cars looking better than when they rolled out of the dealer's lot. I just had my car repainted due to some storm damage and I'm disgusted that I have a lot of polishing to do to get it back to the level shine it had when I took it in. Even my wife looked at the car and shook her head, telling me that no one else polishes it as well as I do. Body shops and dealerships just don't have the same standards, by and large.

ok cool.. ya i saw the applicators and even the MF towel at the local wally-world.

you are right, like i bought the car with 1.7 miles on it and they left sticker residue on the wheels and the paint wasn't as shiny as i thought it could have been. the only thing that i think they detailed well were the windows. oh ya would meguiars mxt glass cleaner be the one recommended for glass?

i can use the mf cloths to remove the wax or go all the way with the foam ones?

I like the NXT glass cleaner. For wax, when working by hand I apply with foam applicator and buff off with MF.

A lot of guys here that buy new cars give explicit instructions to the dealer not to touch their cars before delivery. They take delivery still covered in the plastic.
