'06 Lexus GS430 *56k warning!*

How do you like that car compared to your last GS430? Dad has a 98 GS400 and we love that thing. I was impressed when I saw that car in person for the first time. I totally dig it. Paint looks incredible.

except for my camry, which is a dark green, all my cars for the last 10 years have been black. I love the color and I guess I am just a stickler for punishment

It's not punishment, it's an adventure!

Toyemp, is your 2006 Lexus single stage paint?

I like the new GS more and more every time I see it. Can't wait for the new ES and LS.

Same here. I saw the GS yesterday downtown in a gorgeous medium green color. Just stunning!

Also, now that I see the 430 is very quick <6 sec to 60mph this is looking more viable. Unfortunately the new Motor Trend tested it against the new M45 and said the electronic controls isolate the driver. Hopefully Lexus will make some of this stuff optional on the 2007 edition...wish they would bring out a competition version later.

Absolutely stunning car, my wife has had her eye on those since we traded in her IS300 for the Jeep. Is it just me or are the model years getting a bit ridiculous when you can buy an '06 in March of 2005, what's up with that?

The '06 is a totally different car in every respect from the previous generation. I had two of the Gen2 models -- an '02 and an '04. I got rid of the '02 but I still have the '04 at my 2nd house in Phoenix. The suspension is a lot tighter on the Gen3 model and the throttle and brakes take a little getting used to. Since everything is "drive by wire" now, the car reacts a lot differently than the previous generation. It tends to react a little too quickly to steering/throttle/braking so if you are not careful, you find yourself overcompensating while driving.

It is closer in driving experience to my SC430 than it is to the older GS.

No. All of my black lexuses since around 2001 have been clearcoated including this one. The clearcoat tends to be very hard to work with and removing swirls from it is usually very difficult. On my older cars, I can never get 100% of the swirls out so I have learned to just accept that I do my best and try and live with whatever is left over.

toyemp,

I did an older GS with Poorboys SSR2.5 and was able to get almost all of the swirls out using a PC on 6.

Have you tried the SSR products?

No. I can't say I have. I have quite a few different brands of products in my inventory that I have tried over the years and I have been itching to try something new, but I can't make up my mind on what to try next. I was thinking of trying some of the ClearKote products, but I'm open to suggestions.

Very beautiful car. However, I was disappointed while I was at the New York International Auto Show.

While getting into the back seat, I hit my head and inside, it felt cramped. It wasn't as stunning as I thought it was. I only sat in a GS300 but still, didn't make me go WOW. However, it was in Silver and I'm not a fan of silver when it doesn't have that solid gray-ish tone to it.

I did love the RX330 and the RX400h. Nonetheless, the GS looks much better in darker colors.

Great Job!

By all means, try Poorboys SSR2.5...this is a mainstay of several of us on the board...I hear the new Clearkotes are good but I have not personally tried them yet.
