06 Gmc Yukon Leather ?

I just bought a brand new yukon, I want to condition the leather as much as possible, i don't want my leather to look like typical GM leather after a few years...I am not sure if I have painted/coated leather, is anyone familiar with GMC leather and know what type it is???

if there is any way to find this out, id like to know as well. my leather is different than my parents 7 series yest also different from previous generation 3 series. until now ive been using lexol and bmw's premium leather care (probably re-branded from meguiars).
 
Most all cars today have coated leather....They top die the leather then clear coat it to keep the color from wearing off....That's not saying that on the higher end cars this is the case.

For conditioners I like Four Star allot they also have a cleaner gel....I think what keeps any leather seat in good shape is how often you apply the protectant....I do my seats once a month sometimes more depending on how I feel...My 04 Murano seats look perfect...regular maintenance is the key for me.
 
well recently i recieved some 303 aerospace. would it be ok for me to use that on my cars seats, even if im not aware if its coated or not.
 
303 is not a leather conditioner but in no way will hurt the seats in anyway...I use PB NL on mine once in a while and that's a smiliar product
 
i am not sure if this is true, i think i read this somewhere but if you have coated leather a drop of water will sit on the leather if its uncoated it will soak in :confused:

I wouldn't put to much effort into GMs leather. There really in no hope for it, but if you plan on keeping your Yukon a long time. When a seat starts looking real bad just replace it with Katskins, you can't hardly tell the difference between the two. As long as you order the stock replacement, but the quality in way better.
 
I have an 05 Yukon and just last weekend I went and cleaned and conditioned it. I had been using Lexol on it prior to this treatment. I used the Chemical Guys Cleaner and a microfiber. I was surprised how much dirt came from the practically new (3K miles) leather. I then conditioned it with the Chemical Guys conditioner. It came out looking and feeling wonderful. I will be posting a review on these products shortly.

Unless it's changed in the past few years, you have coated leather. I like TW Leather Cleaner/Conditioner for coated seats, JMO. I found that Lexol made the coated seats sticky. Also I have a hunch that using Natural Look, 303, and other vinyl protectants IS good for the seats, because the protective coat is made out of some sort of vinyl/plastic. So maybe you should get one of those, IDK.
