'06 Ferrari F430 detail (56K = not a chance)

1 Clean WS6

Detailing Rottweiler
Hey all!!!

Enter reason 2,187,934 why I love my job. ;)

This Friday I had the pleasure of spending all day with this brand new 290 mile F430. Like most of my well to do clients the customer handed me the keys and left me to my devices...super down to earth on every level. He even let me move the beast around the driveway!!! Believe it or not this car proved to be quite a challenge. A challenge because it had what I consider to be heavy marring (for a car of this caliber anyway) and because the paint was absolutely hard as nails. It took me 6.5 hours to detail this car and that is with less than 20 minutes spent on the interior!! I was absolutely approaching the limits of what a PC can correct but was not to be denied. :2thumbs: It made correcting a Vette or an Audi seem like a walk in the park.

It is at times like these that I wish I had a better digital camera and better photography skills but alas I have neither. :(

Below is a description of process and products used.

Enjoy (because I sure as heck did),

Mike

Touch up with Poorboy's Spray and Wipe.

Polish with Optimum Compound using a LC orange pad and my PC set at 5-6. This step was repeated x's 2 over the entire car with several areas need x's 3.

Polish with Optimum Polish using a LC white pad and my PC set at 5-6. This step was repeated x's 2.

Polish with Clearkote's VM using a Meg's 8006 pad and my PC set at 5.

Glaze with Clearkote's RMG using a Meg's 9006 pad and my PC set at 5.

Seal with Pinnacle Souveran Paste wax by hand with a foam pad.

Exterior glass and any non-textured plastic trim received VM. Textured plastic trim as well as the tires have Z-16 and the rims have PB's wheel sealant.

Before (the entire car looked like this)....

F430, Mike's skills, F430, Mike's skills, F430 or Mike's skills. :think2 Its a toss-up. :2thumbs:

Of course I have never detailed a F-car, but are they usually not on the soft/er side? :nixweiss

Best part of your work, is there is no magic involved. Just hard work and skills to match. :bow

Wow Mike, outstanding job, and what a car damn ! I would be terrified to go near that thing with a PC, superb job, great pics, and great write up, thanks.

Great work...

I was in Modena 2 weeks ago (for other reasons, but couldn't resist... :chuckle: )

Because I did some cars for our local Feraari dealer, he arranged for us a factory tour (excluding the F1 departement...).

This is a pic of the rear entrance, where there is a 430 leaving the gate..., after that no camera's, cell phones or watches allowed !

I saw how they "work" with finished cars there, and believe me, you had an easy job !

FANTASTIC work Mike! That car had some really bad marring especially when you consider it only had 290 miles. The car absolutely looked dripping by the time you finished.
