'06 Chevy TrailBlazer SS detail

1 Clean WS6

Detailing Rottweiler
Hey all!!

I am pretty sure that this is the very first SUV I've ever posted pics on Autopia of!! Usually most SUV's leave the "sport" part of the utility vehicle back in the showroom somewhere...well...not this truck!! From the factory this SS comes equipped with a sport tuned suspension, big 4-wheel disc brakes, 20" rims and a big honkin' 6.0L LS2 V8!! This is the same motor that is standard issue in the C6 Vette albeit rated at 395hp instead of 400hp. This particular SS is a two wheel drive model (AWD is an option) and is very lightly optioned (read as light...for a truck). The owner is a good friend of mine and has a killer '02 Z06 that I recently detailed but was unable to get pics of as I lost sunlight by the time I was done. This time...my photos would not be denied!!! ;)

This truck is BRAND SPANKING NEW with a mere 76 miles on the odo. It was spared dealer jockey prep and marring was light to nonexistent. The paint was smooth and clean and did not need to be clayed.

Enjoy,

Mike

The detail...

Wash with Meg's Gold Class shampoo.

Polish with Poorboy's PwC (white) using a Meg's 8006 pad and my PC set at 5-6.

Seal with Poorboy's EX-P using a Meg's 9006 pad and my PC set at 5.

Rims have Poorboy's Wheel Sealant and tires and wells have AA.

"TrailBlazer" badge was removed from the lower lefthand corner of the tailgate per client request. The badge was held on with 3M double stick tape and was removed with a hard plastic card and lots of Meg's #34 to be safe. Remaining adhesive residue was removed with Stoner's Tarminator.

 I washed/OCW'ed one about a month ago. The build quality was very impressive. :)

Looks like you picked the right combo, the paint looks absolutely amazing! :up

So it's like your Z06? :D

Looks terrific Mike. :xyxthumbs

It's a nice truck but that front dash needs a makeover. I swear it looks like my 1986 Firebird dash....when will GM learn?

In person though, the quality of the materials is noticably better, plus no huge grey switches everywhere.

Lee is just angry because that SUV would leave his ES sucking $2.25 a gallon exhaust fumes. ;) :p

:LOLOL Oh snap!

But....his dash is way nicer. ;)

Honestly, I'd be happy with either vehicle. :xyxthumbs

Man I like those more every time I see them. Only thing I see I don't like is the auto tranny. Is manual an option?

THat is def a sweet ride. I cant believe they would produce that without leather being standard!! I would love to get something like that but Im afraid the gas guzzling from it would break me more then the car payment!

looks like i could take a swim in that hood :)

honestly though, that interior is horrid.

Yeah, GM exterior design has improved on some vehicles lately, but they just can't mature in the interior department. Especially in SUVs and trucks the design has just stagnated. There's nothing unique there in that SS interior. Remind me on the inside what it is I'm riding in GM!

As usual Mike your work is incredible. :bow

Your humor is not bad either. :rofl

Sorry Lee. :bolt

HAHA, looking back at the pic of the interior they even half @ssed the gauges only making he RPM gauge white faced then the rest are black. Wow, I guess GM thought people would ignore the interior since most of the attention was put on the performance. :nixweiss

Wow, I didn't even notice that before. Now that you point it out I think I need to vomit. It looks like an assembly mistake. And I will NEVER understand RPM gauges with AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS!! Why???

What a sweet truck. My favorite SUV done right, and IMO its the only fitting 'SS that Chevy has left.

Awesome detail Mike. On a side note, I hope they improve the exhaust detail; It leaves a lot to be desired. Chevy should pick up a detail similar to the Porsche's SUV (can't remember the exact spelling).

Also hearing Scott's remark (and remembering that burgundy one) about its build quality is reaping havoc to my self control!!

Great work!

Another side note: If I could get my hands on that truck, 2wd or 4wd; all 390 hp of it....................who gives a shuck about the interior, which btw isn't bad even in cloth!?!?!!!

How are you liking the truck, and how has the gas mileage been? I think that may make a good replacement for my wife's Tahoe.

Outstanding job Mike!

I really like the looks of the TB SS, but that is a little odd that only the tach has a white face. Oh well, an LS2 will make up for that any day of the week.
