'05 Nissan 350Z Roadster detail (and a little drama too!!)

Great fix on the scuffing!!! It looks like maybe whoever was drying it was scuffing it with the spray bottles that they hang off of their pants. Great removal!!! I see this everytime I drive by the Terrible Herbst car washes. Guys drying the cars with the ratty rags and their "tire shine" bottles dangling off of their pants.

nice job there mike!

I to love the 350Z...

BTW, a tuning company (APS - air powered systems) out here in Aus makes a twin turbo kit for the Z, makes about 280 kw, at the rear treads. i believe there are exporting these kits for about 10k US... ohh and they have a warrenty and are fully street legal! :D (i heard they were running low 12's in the manual... ;) )

That is screaming! I am not sure what that power output is in HP but I would guess around 400HP? What kind of warranty are they offered with?

THANKS again all for the compliments!! :D

Johnny I only post pics of the "nice" cars I detail because they are fun to detail and equally as fun to post/write about. Trust me...the bread and butter of my detail work and backbone of my business are disasterous soccer mom SUV's!!! I used the IP / FP combo after the Scratch X for exactly that reason...micromarring. Combined with a good quality terry applicator Scratch X is actually a fairly aggressive compound. It is designed for use by hand (you can actually generate a fair amount of heat with it) which is why I will use it for spot scratch and defect removal. It's perfect for isolated areas and VERY safe (that portion of the Z just behind the convertible top is a painted composite). I did all the major leveling of the scratches in that repair with Scratch X than used the Menzerna polishes to remove the marring.

teamvegas...now that you mention it...I see that too! Good point.

Mike,

Wow what a sweet little Z :up Any inside shots? It's this 6speed stick or 5 speed Automagic?:D

Brilliant job, well done!

Just out of curiosity, don't answer if you don't want to, but, how much did you charge and did the "cowboys" pay the bill?

"that is just a risk you run with hand washes"

She should have done this

and told him that was the risk he runs when he scratches her car.

I can't stand hackers like that. :angry

Great job on removing the scratches and the paint looks terrific! :up

Nice job Mike!

There is one of those $20 hand car wash places down the street from me. The other day I saw 3 guys drying off a new SL 500 with those California water blades. I just cringed.

Thanks again all!!

NiFreaky I charged her my normal rate for a clay and two step detail. Since she is such a good client and always very generous with tips I ate the cost of the scratch repair. I wrote her a separate invoice at nearly triple my normal rate to hand to the wash owner. The worst he can say is no...the best is my client gets some reimbursement for the pain and suffering she went through on his account.

Scott...speak the truth man!! I honestly think he thought he could get away with a line like that because of her gender.

Woody that doesn't surprise me one bit. Sometimes when I drive by Coronet's on Shallowford Road I see high end cars getting "detailed" with 11" oribitals using terry bonnets!!

You can tell it's a woman's car.... Look how it's parked! Just kidding....Car looks great! I'd totally drop that top and go cruisin' in that. Mike, if you're up to getting a beer sometime, I'd love to take a peek at Lola. Later dude.

Hello all!!

Nissan definitely hit a home run with these machines. If Nissan puts some type of forced induction (either a turbo or a blower) on them from the factory...I'm going to have to do some soul searching!! (QUOTE)

before you do any real Soul Searching, check out the Road & Track Issue (a couple months back) where a handful of high performers were rated....

I think the Z did not impress anyone in the panel, and IF it didnt place last then it came 2nd last. (out of 9 cars).

If you do any soul searching you needn't look too much further than your own back yard (Chevy C6 won that 'competition'):up

But yeah the Z car looks pretty nice parked!
