05 Ford GT and 88 Porsche 930 Turbo... (42 pics)

Update - Since I was unable to pull the cars out into the sun (Friday was raining ALL day and Saturday was cloudy all day!) I decided to call the customer as a follow-up. He said Sunday he pulled both out into the sun and they looked great.

I always worry when I do polishing on vehicles and there is no sunlight to double check my work. I have not had one complaint in the last few years but Im sure one day I will something :(

I charge 50 an hour. You can imagine the bill was not cheap. :) I always try to get the finish near flawless as I can with time allotted. Everyone has heard of the "10 footer" car (looks great from 10 feet away), I like to make a car a "4 incher" :)

When you quote your customers the hourly rate, do you also quote them a projected time after you see the vehicle?

Ex:

Chris: "Yes Mr. Customer, I charge $50 per hour and after closely reviewing your vehicle I estimate 10 hours of work time."

Do you hold to that or do you continue to bill regardless?

Interesting topic to me.

I usually qoute a estimated time right before I start. Working on these two vehicles I wanted to spend at least an hour or two extra per vehicle without charging for it. The owner was very generous enough to pay for my actual hours worked and plus a very generous tip. Most of the time I qoute 7-8 on something I end up spending 9-10 hours without charging for it directly. Sometimes they end up giving me a tip to cover some of the extra time spent sometimes they dont. I try to gauge what the customer wants as far as level of detailing then try to obtain that.

1200 in a weekends job aint bad! I'll spend 20-30 hrs doing what I love to earn that any day!!!

That Porsche looks AMAZING! By taking your time to find the right combo, you did an amazing job!

The interior of the GT looks like a Jet; all those toggles. Lol. I wanna Toggle Start Switch. That'd be SAWEET!:woot2:
