'05 Ford Excursion....Lots of Real Estate To Maintain!

Hi folks!

A couple/few weeks ago I did a PC Z2 job on the Excursion. Lots of dark blue metallic paint keeps me busy.

Anyhow, yesterday it was the first recipient of a CR Spotless wash.

Last night I snapped a few pics around twilight, and here are a couple of the close-ups.

Man, that IS a big rig! Nice job on keeping her in good shape. I see a lot of dirty ones around here!

I don't even want to know what your monthly gas bill is :). I had an Escalade rental for a few weeks and it about broke the bank. I drive 100 miles round trip each day and it just sucked down the gas.

Thanks mgm. I was really impressed with how well the Z2 worked with the PC. I think I got a much better result than when I apply by hand. Plus, it went much quicker.

You asked about gas mileage. First I should mention, V10...7600 pounds. Around town, mid 9s...on the road...13. Should get a bit better as the miles roll up.

I have never had a vehicle with great mileage. The Cobra in the reflection gets 13 around town, as much as 23 on the highway. Last tank with the Cobra was 18.2.

good luck getting 13 with that thing... my tundra pulls about 16 to 18... and its a smaller truck with a 4.7 v8...

either way, it looks nice. and like someone else said, don't forget those tires...

I love Excursions, and yours is a very nice one, great color. I thought Ford was discontinuing the Excursion??

Tundra Jim...I have seen 12.9 on a trip through the Pine Barrens of NJ, which is for the most part highway speeds and few lights.

Thanks JDookie...I have had a secret lust for one of these for years. Word is that '05 is the last year, and was why I jumped at it now. Had to order an XLT the way I wanted it. Dealers only stock LTDS and Eddie Bauers. I wanted all the chrome.

6"][9"...CR Spotless is a system that de-ionizes the water so that you no longer have to dry the the vehicle after rinse. Saves alot of agg and potential micro-marring from towells. You can search on the name to see the system at their site.

Matt,

Great job on the Excursion. Just a word of warning, however. The backup sensors may not work if the vehicle behind your Excursion is a 98 Corvette convertible with the top down. Do not know if it was the diminuitive stature of the Vette, or the multiple coats of AIO and EX-P, but one of the parents on my son's baseball team backed up onto the hood of the Vette. He said he never saw it, and the sensors did not tell him something was back there.

Alex...my G/F refers to it as "behemoth". I used to spend more time before the CR system, as drying seemed to take forever. It wasn't an all day job, just clay and Z2 with the PC. Probably a couple hours.

BillZ71...thanks for the tip! Mine seem to pick up everything, but I am very careful reversing the monster.

Truck looks good!! My dad has a 99 Suburban and the thing is a tank!! It takes a long time to do the truck, so by the time your finished, your ready to pass out :)

Thats why, I like to keep up with it and not let it get too bad... that way... like you said... only takes a couple hours...
