Your car has a real healthy glow to it! :)

Just a word of caution, treat your seats and carpets with a product like Scotchguard® and still take care not to spill anything. I find the interior materials VW uses stain rather easily and don't clean up very well.

that's what happens when the germans build a car in Mexico.... :sosad

Nice job on the car!

Just wanted to add a quick suggestion...

The XM antenna can be mounted on the rear deck (the carpeted area between your back seats and rear window) without any loss of reception.

This offers 2 advantages:

1 - Not mounted on your paint and no wires on the outside of your car.

2 - Thiefs don't see that little black antenna on the outside of the car so they don't know that there is sattelite radio equipment inside the car.

Just my 2 cents.

Again, nice job on the car.

I have a VW Passat with black and tan cloth interior.... heed the warnings, it is tough to keep clean, but man does it look sharp when it is clean!

that is only true if you do not have reflective tint on your windows..if you do, you'll never get a sharp signal...

:nixweiss I really don't think the factory chooses the interior materials. VW makes some great driver's cars but I find the quality of their interior surfaces to be lacking.

I only suggested that to him because if you look at his pics, there is definitely no reflective tint in his rear window.

Dave,

Some excellent points there. The magmount antenna on the trunk lip is a nuisance, anyway -- every time I open the trunk I end up fiddling with the wiring. I'm an electronics tech -- shoulda known better I guess, but I just went for the easiest install. The rear window isn't tinted. It shall be moved!

Fantastic...even for a diesel!

Good job.

First of all... sorry my poor english and also sorry me for this upcoming offtopic...

What you mean with "even for a diesel"?

Here in europe petrol is really expensive, a direct consequence is that most new cars are diesels, about 70/80% of total selling. And you should see the specs of some of them, things are not like 10 years ago...

great job - were you able to remove ALL swirls before Zaino? - If not, did Zaino hide remaining swirls?

Fortunately, there were very few swirls -- the paint finish was already very clean (the previous owner must have really taken good care of the car). Nevertheless, I used a PC and some Meguires paint cleaner as a first step, then followed that up with the Zaino claybar. I ordered some Z-8 the other day, that oughta be fun!
