Spent a couple of days on my car, layering different products to see what effect I would get. Firstly, I would like to thank all of you for sharing your knowledge about certain products and techniques, it has been a great help to me!

Process:

Wash with Meguiar's GC

Clay with Clay Magic Blue (Meguiar's QD as lubricant)

Followed by Meguiar's Paint Cleaner

Polish with 1Z Metallic Polish & Wax

Seal with 2 coats UPP (super slick baby!)

LSP: Spit shine P21S (Thanks Nick T)

Tyres dressed with Meguiar's Natural Rubber as a base, then Hot Shine ontop (looks darker)

Windows cleaned with Eagle1 20/20

I'm pretty happy with this combination of products, the only reason I used Meguiar's Paint Cleaner is because I already have it and I'm trying to waste it.. haha. I'm a bit uncertain on whether I should have used P21S over UPP because it seems to have killed a fair amount of slickness, but it does make the paint look a little deeper.

Very nice...I like that rear shot a lot. :xyxthumbs

I'm also curious as to the SP2.3 badge? Obviously it's a 2.3L 4cyl, but SP = ?

My guess would be SP=Sport.

It is a sport package designation. The "23" stands for the 2.3 liter motor, which is available with various horsepower ratings.

Ford began to use Mazda's 2.3 motor a short time back in the Focus. They made the decision in 2005 to kill the SVT Focus, partly because of not wanting to continue building the Ford-based SVT motor.

However, they did take the 2.3 motor, kept some of the old SVT suspension parts, and offered a model designated the Focus ST. I bought one last summer, and it's a fun car to drive. With the employee discount program in place then, I picked up a fairly loaded one for $15,500.

At some time in the future, Ford will be using the entire Mazda 3 platform for the next-generation Focus here in the US. I believe that it is already being sold in Europe that way.

BTW, nice detial! A good-looking silver!

Very nice, I also have a 3 as well!

How difficult did you find it to install the chrome side-marker rings? I was kind of thinking about getthing those.

Thanks a lot guys for all the positive feedback! Much appreciated. The car is actually Titanium Grey, which is darker than silver, but not as dark as a Gunmetal Grey... so it was a little easier to get those reflections.

Hey, Moe! is pretty much spot on, the SP just means Sport Package, I think it's the equivalent of your GT.

Mate they were easy as, they stick on with double sided tape! They were incredibly cheap off ebay. The Mazda Dealership wanted to charge $80 AUD for these tiny pieces of plastic, but I got em for less than $10 AUD.

Great! Thanks!

Nice work, Chompies. Personally, I would've left the UPP and just added more layers. It can be pretty amazing once you hit 3-4 coats.

Thanks guys!

Yeah, I think I'll try this next time instead of putting a carnauba on top. This was my first time using UPP, so I was absolutely amazed at its slickness!
