04 Audi S4

After finding this forum I decided it was time to try something better than the Eagle 1 "Wet Look" I had been using. I will not even mention my TW Ice experiment...

Winter has refused to set in here in new England, so I took advantage of the 40 degree temperatures to add a little protection to the S4 in case it actually does turn to winter this year.

Washed with Meg's (cheap stuff, pink bottle), Klasse AIO then Klasse SG.

The AIO goes on and comes off like a dream, the SG needed a little extra elbow grease and a few spritzes of water to finish off. When I put the car in the garage and went into the bathroom to wash up, I noticed riandrops on the skylight. Good timing on my part :D

Not the best pics, so be kind to the new guy.

Not bad! With some help from the forum, I'm sure you'll be able to make it shine even better.

First tip: Maybe you can try out some tire dressing on your tires to really make the car stand out.

Im in Conneticut currently visiting family and I think i saw that car last night at the movie theatre or mall I forget. But I remember because of the rims.

Looks nice! How do you like the S4?

I love everything but the gas mileage :2thumbs: My wife says this is the only car that would be able to replace her M3.

Thanks - Wheelwax Extreme Black arrived from Autogeek late Friday, has been applied, it does set off the tires grom the dark gray body.

It must have been my evil twin, because I have not left NH in the past few days...

Hows the paint? hard or soft?

Ha, i did a search a while ago and read some posts that say the Audi paint is super hard, and others that say it is soft as butter...

It has very few swirls / scratches for a two year old car. I bought it as a CPO so I am not sure of how it was washed before I got it. There are some chips on the front end from stones, etc.

So I say the clearcoat is pretty hard.

Very nice. Those look like Dunlop Winter Sports on there...how are they working for you?

Well, no snow yet, but on dry pavement they are fine, much better than a typical Q rated snow tire.

I ran the same tire on my last car (Subaru STi) and was pretty happy in the snow, so I figure I will be all set with the S4 as well. They are a bit 'loose' in the snow compared to say a Hakka 2, but very predictable and controllable, once you get used to a bit of sliding. You can feel like Petter Solberg on these tires and you usually don't end up in the ditch. Usually...

Yeah I'm pretty happy with mine too. Especially on dry pavement. They don't have the really spongy feel of some snow tires.

I really enjoy the predictability of the Winter Sports in the snow. You always know when they're going to let loose, and then they're going to grab again. The tire wear has been incredible as well. I ran them for 4 months last year and when I put them on this season, I couldn't even tell which ones I had on the front vs rear last time.

I have been rolling w/ 16" Winter Sport M3's on my '05 A4 Ultra Sport since getting the car and can't say enough about them.

I can tell the difference between them and my 18" Conti's on dry pavement but up here in Western NY it isn't usually "dry pavement" from Thanksgiving through Easter and they are more than enough. Even when going up through the Pocono's.

I did look at the Haka's but felt since they were "real" snow tires I woud lose some of the sport performance.

BSBG are those the Audi mud flaps on your whip?

I've been thinking about getting some flaps but the one's AoA sell's can't be painted.

I thought about the Audi flaps as they fit perfectly and look OK (for mud flaps). But I bought some generic ones at Autozone for 98 cents a pair. I'll take them off in the spring and buy a new pair next year.

Nice work :up Though I’m not a fan of the wheels . . . the OEM 18 Avus is the S4’s trademark.

Out of curiosity, it appears to be an aftermarket exhaust . . . thoughts?

The ASAs are for the winter shoes only - the Avus go back on in the spring.

It is an APR exhaust - downpipes w/ high flow cats and muffler section. Along with the APR ECU reflash it supposedly yields another 35 hp. It definitely makes the car quicker, especially on the top end. And the sound is fabulous :2thumbs:

the paint of the A4 models is super hard from 1995 to 2000, from 2000 till now its more softer...about ur S4, its a nice car and u did a good job on the paint, but u need some dresser to the tires and, honestly, i prefer the original rims IMHO ;)
