'03 Z06 "sleeper" detail

1 Clean WS6

Detailing Rottweiler
Hey all!!!

Yes...I know. Just how can a Millennium Yellow Z06 be considered a "sleeper"?? You'll have to wait for the Money Shots to see exactly why. ;)

This beautiful Z belongs to a new client of mine that was referred to me by my very good friends at Vengeance Racing. ______Welcome to Vengeancerd.com ______ The car shows a scant 4K on the odo but is already on its second owner. It was well kept (i.e. no clay needed and it did have fresh wax on the paint) but was showing the ravages of one too many improper washes. In typical Vette clear fashion the marring was deep and a bear to remove. I would say that I was able to bring it back up to about 90-95%. I spoke with owner about what process and products to use and he was very enthusiastic and willing to give them a try. Below is a description of the detail.

Enjoy,

Mike

No tire dressing or leather conditioner were applied per client request.

Wash with Meg's Gold class shampoo.

Polish with Optimum Compound using a LC orange pad and my PC set at 5-6. This step was repeated x2 over the entire car.

Polish with Optimum Polish using a LC white pad and my PC set at 5-6.

Polish/glaze with ClearKote's Vanilla Moose using a Meg's 8006 pad and my PC set at 5-6.

Seal with Pinnacle Souveran paste wax by hand with a foam pad.

No...your eyes aren't fooling you. That is a '07 spec LS7 (less the dry sump oiling system) sitting between the fenderwells of a C5!!! Not to leave well enough alone the car has a mild Comp Cam, a set of custom built Kooks headers and some masterful computer tuning by the guys at Vengeance. All said and done the Z puts 515hp and 490ft-lbs to the rear tires yet fires right up and drives like a stocker (albeit with a bit of a cam lope).

So yes...a Millennium Yellow Z06 can still be a sleeper!!! :xyxthumbs

Great work on that machine! Corvette can definitely be a pain.

I have to say though, I am a little disappointed.... no cod piece shot? :grinno:

Greg

very cool to see someone do it but my buddy has a much more sleeperish z06

700 whp procharged and until now stock exterior (he just picked up some ssr comps)

REGARDLESS great detail

Car looks great, did you clean up the engine as well?? if so, what tools did you use to get in and around those coils over the valve covers? Cleanest engine I've seen in a long time.

Great work.

LS7 :help: !!! Awesome car and awesome results. How did the OC/OP work on that vette, I would have liked to see some pictures of how bad the swirls were before, looks to be about 85-90% defect free, which is pretty awesome for a rock hard clear like that via PC, I remember because thats about all I could do :chuckle:

THANK YOU all for the very kind words!! :wavey

Greg...my bad!!! I will make it up on the next one. :hifive:

Kenney the ducts were done by PC. It is a bit tough to get to them when using the 6" backing plate along with the LC pads (particularly with the orange pad) but it can be done. With the 5" plate and the Meg's pad it was a breeze.

JoshVette I wish I could take credit for the clean LS7 but all I did was wipe the motor down with a damp MF towel. The engine install has less than 500 miles on it...brand new motor. ;)

Beautiful work as always Mike.

I did have a "second take" I admit; I was wondering for a bit why that ls6 intake and coil packs were looking different. Awesome swap!
