A 65?! What are those going for? Around 160k?

Yeah the guy I knew paid 185 for it and waited a year for it to arrive here. Then sold it for 200,000 a month later!!! V12 TWIN TURBO BABY!!!!!

MSRP $186,775*

Engine AMG-built twin-turbocharged 6.0L SOHC 36-valve V-12 engine

Net Power 604 hp @ 4,800 rpm

Net Torque 738 lb-ft @ 2,000 - 4,000 rpm

I know the SL55 is fast...SL65 is ridiculous! In a good way of course. The guy that I know that had one said he can barely accelerate on a turn without traction control going CRAZY!

im no pro or anything but i was just wonderinghoe come no one recomends using klasse sealant glaze, i heard its really good. have you guys used it and liked it?

sa

:thx again all!!!

SVECobraR if you think SSR2.5 dusts...try using Menzerna IP!!! Polishing dust was removed with my usual routine of a California Duster, a small boars hair brush and patience.

Jim I had a bit over 6 hours invested in the car from start to finish.

Mike,

Great job! That Turtle Wax really works wonders.

As you may know, wifeomatic had an 04 SL55 and it was one of the worst cars I have ever owned. In the end, MB took the car back. Go figure. From a leaking blower crank nose to 3" of water in the trunk something was always going on. My 04 had the ceramiclear (was that on 03's as well?) and I polished it with 106. I don't have any good shots, so here is a bad one.

Mike - outstanding work as always my friend. Car looks just flat amazing!! gotta love a job that you lay your hands on the types of cars that you get to work on most of the time!! Have a new castle for that great detail:D

Menzerna IP dusts like a snow storm. I remembered the first time I used IP (after using clearkote products for 2.5 year exclusively) my car looked like it was in an upstate new your blizzard:D. But IP is some gooooooooooood stuff!!

Guys, if IP dust is killing you try putting a little Clearkote RMG in it. RAG came up with that awhile ago and it works wonderfully. Less dust and easier to remove.

MB is not known for reliability. They do build some showy cars. If only they get their build quality up to par, they'd be ok. My parents had a E430 and nothing but problems. Electrical problems, the power moonroof failed and did not open, water leaks and all sorts of oil leaks.

The lack of manual transmission also deters from the fun factor of the cars. Although 99% MB buyers are not interested in that.

Great work on that SL55. My boss (for my REAL job) just traded his SL600 RennTech for a Flint Grey SL65.. what a BEAST! He has the renntech chip to disable the limiter, and let me tell you, things get blurry at 180mph.

btw,

Not all MB cars have problems. I have owned 2, and neither have had any major problems. It seems as though every 2 out of 10 cars is a problem, and sees the dealer at least 3 times in the first 5000 miles. Seems I've been lucky!
