Detailing Rottweiler
Hey all!!

What a monster!! 500+ horsepower at the wheels!!! I love working on cars like this and to make it even sweeter...the owner dropped it off with me so I had the "home field advantage"! ;) The client is a friend of mine and an officer in the local SVT club that I perform a fair amount of detail work for. He is the second owner of this beast that shows about 22K on the odo. It had never been thoroughly detailed since he's owned and and it showed. The paint was trashed with HEAVY marring and tons of bonded contaminants. Before and after polish pics with halogens (since they seem to be all the rage these days) can be found here... http://autopia.org/forum/showthread.php?t=70525

Sorry for the lack of sunlight in these pics but there wasn't much in my driveway at this time of day. Below is a description of the process and products used.

Enjoy (you bet your arse I did),

Mike

Wash with Meg's NXT shampoo

Clay with Meg's aggressive formula overspray clay using PB's S&W as a lube.

Polish with Menzerna IP using a LC orange pad and my PC set at 5-6. This step was done x2 on the entire vehicle.

Polish with Menzerna FPII using a LC white pad and my PC set at 5-6.

Wipedown with Meg's #34.

Glaze with ClearKote's VM using a LC black pad and my PC set at 5.

Seal with ClearKote's CMW using a Meg's 9006 pad and my PC set at 4.

Glass has been VM'd. All plastic trim has Meg's #40. Rims have PB's wheel sealant. Tires have Z-16 x2 and the wells have AA.

Please pardon the pollen in the pics...it's that wonderful time of the year in the south.

The ultimate combo on black for a super wet look - VM topped with CMW. If you have time, a topper of Souveran would be awesome. I think that combo is the only one that I have used where I truly see a difference in the color of the paint as if it almost darkens it further.

You seem to love the IP to FP polishing combo. It works great for you on black.

Awesome work Mike! That is a sick ride.

Looking forward to the NFL Draft on Saturday - hope our "G Men" land a stud in the first round.

:werd: ...although I do like to toss RMG in there too. ;)

Mike-if you have any RMG, mix up a bottle of FPII and RMG (about 70/30....30 being RMG) and see what you think. Cuts down on dusting and adds serious wetness to Menzerna's clear shine.

That Mustang is beautiful! Great showcase for your detailing talents. :bow

Scott - Thanks for the great info. That is the only part I dont like is the dusting so I am going to try your recommendation so the dusting will be less!!

 :wow: :bigups

btw, what did you use and what was your process for cleaning the engine? i want my mach1's motor to look like that cobra's motor, minus the blower of course. :p

Simply outstanding Mike! I hope to reach your level of perfection someday. That Mustang looks like new. Wow! :xyxthumbs

:thx all for the very kind words!! :bigups

Seth as far as my Menzerna affliction...if it ain't broke don't fix it!! IP and FPII combined with the LC pads have turned out to be a fantastic combo for me via PC. GO BLUE!!!

Scott I am RMG-less at the moment. In my next CK order I plan on getting some. I've never had a problem with FPII dusting...IP is a whole diffent ball o' wax though.

Reid I am one of those freaks that can't bring himself to spray water on a motor. :nervous2: That engine was detailed by hand with several different size detail brushes, degreaser, PB's S&W then dressed with Meg's #40.
