03 GMC Sierra

I'm just a noob at detailing my own vehicles and only have a small 6" orbital single head polisher but I do enjoy a clean vehicle. While I do have a few small chips in the hood :furious: (just haven't had time to take care of them) the paint looks pretty good. (to me anyway) I'd like some opinions from the guru's here.

Hood and roof were claybared and then polished with liquid glass using a cotten? pad and removed with micro-fiber.

What would you use on this vehicle?

Based on the way it looks in the pictures, other than maybe some deep machine polishing (as needed), you might want to stick with Liquid Glass. :)

So what your suggesting is use a say a PC and work it using LG?

I think what Scott means is the truck looks really good already based on the pictures. Further down the road you may need to get a PC to polish any swirls out because the 6" orbital will probably not have enough OPM, but the truck does look great! Nice job

This is from the web site link you posted:

Q. Will Liquid Glass Polish/Finish restore heavily oxidized paint or gel coat?

A. No. Liquid Glass Polish/Finish is used to protect a nonporous surface. It will not remove oxidation or restore much color to a heavily oxidized surface.

Q. Is Liquid Glass Polish/Finish safe for use on new car finishes with clear coat paint?

A. Yes. Liquid Glass Polish/Finish contains no abrasives or cleaners, and is perfectly safe for all paint finishes including clear coat.

Q. Should Pre-Cleaner be used on a new car before applying Liquid Glass Polish/Finish?

A. Yes. Pre-Cleaner should always be used before the initial coat of Liquid Glass Polish/Finish. Even new cars will have some type of wax or dealer preparation product on them before the car is delivered. Removing everything from the paint surface will ensure good adhesion of Liquid Glass Polish/Finish with a minimum of streaking.

This suggests that LG is a LSP or sealant with no cleaners. I would not call it a polish or even an All-in-one type product.

There is a lot of confusion or mixed us of the word "polish" in the auto wax/sealant industry. I believe most Autopians would use polish to describe a product that prepares a paint surface and/or removes surface defects prior to applying an LSP, such as swirls, oxidation, scuffs, water spots, etc.

Thanks, I've been detailing for a number of years on my personal vehicles but no where near the level of the group here. I have a lot to learn. You guys are on a whole other level.

Like Prince says theres a lot of confusion as to whats what it makes my head spin. :polish:
