Every fall, it seems my Maxima becomes a haven for spiders. What can I do to get rid of them since I can't stand spiders and I can't swat them while driving. I can't use Raid or call Orkin, unfortunately.

Damn! I hate spiders too! I had one drop down on a web right in front of my face one night and I damn near crashed the car! Also when they crawl across the winshield and until you can determing whether they are inside or out. Gives me the willy's just thinking about it. I think my fear of spiders comes from all those B movies in the '50's and '60's where the spider jumps out and sucks the people dry, and then there was Arachnophobia (the movie) which I think is what I have.

I usually just whip out my 9mm and blast em! :D Well maybe that is just wishful thinking. Perhaps keeping a frog on the dashboard? If you find a better answer to your question let me know!

I have had several on the outside of the car but a few have gotten in and I have managed to swat them. The worst of these was crawling on my headliner in the vicinity of my head. I looked up and the swat reflex took over.

I thought the Glock 23 was a .40 cal also. I prefer the 9mm ammo to the heavy artillery. I was looking at the Baby Glock 26 (also 9mm), but the grip is thicker than my S & W due to the staggered ammo loading and very short magazine. That makes it less comfortable for me to carry. I do however like the consistent trigger pull with the Glocks. The S & W has a hard pull DA and then an easier but longer trigger travel on the rest. Just hope I never have to use it for anything besides spiders!

The new single stack glocks are the way to go. Most models are too bit to fit an average persons hand and to be shot properly. If you want a short quick trigger pull...consider a 1911. I might consider the new baby glock in a 9MM. (17C I think it is?)

While on the topic of firearms.

I always wanted to own a Glock 19. Fits my hand well and is smaller than the 17 which is a bit big in my hands.

I gave the Glock 23 a try and found it a bit too small in my hands.

I'll probably end up with a Colt 1911 .45.

Just my 2 cents,

Jason

I bet most of those guns u mentioned are actually too big for you. When you grip it right (which 90% of people don't do), you will find most guns are made too big. I would stick with a single stack glock, but perhaps something different for your first one. The Glock has no safety and could be nerve racking trying to decock it if you ever had the need to. I had to do this once in my home and s@#$ in my pants going through the whole process. My beretta 96F was a great starter gun....maybe a bit too much kick, but easy to shoot, and not overly expensive. The 1911 is a great gun too. I would start out with a 9MM. A 45 cal is nice, but is a slow round.

I hope I don't have to decock a gun inside my home, would freak me out.

I'll shop around for a good starter pistol and ask several of my older friends for a recommendation.

kinda have to be old enough to even have firearms :D

I don't like spiders in my car. One time (in band camp) actually I was reaching down below my seat and one of those big albino white Aliens lookin spiders crawled up right in front of my face (I didn't care for it). The funny thing is you see a spider and you know that's just one of the millions siblings of the mother spider (bigger than the kids) hiding somewhere in your car.

Back to detailing and spiders.

I was mowing the lawn for someone in NJ and when I was cutting the back of land, its a forest back there, trees and what not. Speeding through various paths, then bam, my face went right into a gigantic spider web, had the spdier crawl around my neck, Drove to the shed and got off the tractor, and started racking at my neck, got a hold of a big brown spider the size of a half dollar was in my hand. Yuck threw it down and killed it. It totally freaked me out. I so hate insects.

Next time I'm using an enclosed tractor, sure love the Earth and all, but I have limits.

take an NRA safety course or even better a course in NJ from the school of defensive firearms....you will learn a lot, feel safer, and know what to buy and what will fit your hand and style. Email me for phone #'s if interested. Prices range from 100-450 bucks for multisession courses.

I notice the morning after I put a coat of Paste Glaze on my wife's

blue CRV, there are 30 or so tiny little white baby spiders all over the roof.

Guess they like the taste! :D

Unfortunately, there are way too many people who own guns that have no idea in safe handling or firearm use. Kinda like a buffer in the hands of some detail men (gotta keep on topic ;)). I think it should be mandatory for gun ownership. In Florida, they make you take a course before getting a concealed carry permit, but anyone can own a gun and keep it in the house or glove compartment of your car without a permit! I'm not real big on government interference in personal rights, but this is one area that they need to work on..

I had a Sig P226 15 round in 9 mm. It was an excellent piece! Very reliable and accurate. It was a bit big and heavy for carry though. I am sure that in the bigger calibers, you will notice that the kickback is less than many other makes. I also had it in Nickel Plate before they switched to the black coated stuff. I have heard that the coating can wear off after a while, but it is still the preference for many police forces.

lol, good thing they were on the outside

haven't had problems with spiders but have had some problems with tree frogs...

i was driving home one night from the gf's house which has tons of trees. something jumped on my leg and scared the crap out of me. turned out to be a tree frog that must have jumped through the sunroof as i was leaving her house. the frog ended up riding on the dash for the rest of the half hour drive

Ironically, those are the spiders I get. The only difference is these are full grown.
