With holograms deep enough to appear to have thinned the clear, no wonder you can't get the 'Vette 100%. No one can. At a certain point, you just have to live with the defects because to remove them completely would mean thinning the clear all around the holograms too.

Car looks beautiful to me, a really incredible improvement especially with such deep swirls and hard paint. :)

I absolutely agree with Scott - you did an freakin' incredible job on that thing. I know how frustrating it can be to not be able to get that last little bit but I think in this case you did all you could. Better to play it safe with the clear and live with a little marring, imo.

Hey, thats my car!!!! I contacted Sean after lurking around here and seeing the work he does. After purchasing the car a few weeks ago I polised it and waxed it myself by hand but the marks were obviously still there and looked horrible in the sun on such a nice car. I'm very impressed with the job he did. After taking it out in direct sunlight later that day and the next you can see a great improvement. I saw how hard he tried and how many passes Sean made with different levels of cleaners :waxing: It looks 100x better than it did before, the paint really has some depth now. I'm very happy with it. I may not be perfect but thats what you get with a used (or sometimes new) car. Thanks for the great job Sean :2thumbs:

What an amazing turn around Sean -Just beautiful! The paint is very deep and wet looking.

Just curious:

Why didn't you break out the synthetic wool LC pad on this one, and finish up with a polish or finish pad? Vette paint sucks -but I've had pretty good luck with these pads using Optimum & Menzerna Polishes.

Chris: Thanks for posting and I'm glad you are happy. This job really irked me (as I'm sure you read). I'm sure our next go around in the spring should yield even a bit better results, but the main thing is that you are happy. Enjoy and have fun.

John: The synthetic wool pad, in my experiences, leaves a lot of hologramming behind in comparison to foam. Since that was my main problems, I didn't want to add insult to injury. I finished with a finessing which worked well :).

Fantastic job :2thumbs: . 4 hours with the rotary isn't to bad, it usually takes me at least 8 hours with a PC. Maybe I should get a rotary :think2

The best compliment you could ever get in the c&b forum....straight from the customer.

Excellent work Sean! I've had my experiences with Vette's and they are a pita to work with if heavy polishing is involved.

i heard one of the main problems was that the body panels are fiberglass and that they use different paint so that it could bond to it which makes it harder to detail.

Actually, the hardness of the clearcoat is a plus in my book. With "proper" care the C5 finish is very easy to maintain. Create a blemish and then the problems start.
