'03 10th Anniversary Mustang Cobra detail

1 Clean WS6

Detailing Rottweiler
Hello all!!

This beautiful Terminator belongs to my good friend and fellow Autopian Todd03Blown. It has been his daily driver since new and has recently been retired to weekend toy status with the purchase of his new SVT Focus. The car was in excellent condition with minimal marring (Todd is an Autopian after all ;) ) and showing about 49K on the odo. The point of this detail would be to minimize some acid rain etching without having to wetsand the flat surfaces. Since Todd was out of town last week I had this car for a full seven days and worked on it each night when I came home from my daily appointments. I have to thank Todd for trusting me with this beauty for so long even though it made Lola jealous being parked next to her!! Below is a description of products and process used. I apologize for the poor lighting in these pictures...there just isn't any good light in my driveway at the time of day I took the pics.

Enjoy,

Mike

Wash with Meg's NXT shampoo

Clay with Meg's Aggressive Formula Overspray Clay using PB's Spray and Wipe as a lube. The clay session revealed little to zero bonded contaminants. I probably could have either entirely skipped this step or used a less aggressive clay.

Polish with Menzerna IP using a LC orange pad and my Makita set at 1500. Polish again x's 2 with IP using a LC orange pad and my PC set at 5-6.

Polish with Menzerna FPII using a LC white pad and my Makita set at 1200. Polish again with FPII using a LC white pad and my PC set at 5-6.

Wipe down with Meg's #34.

Polish with ClearKote's VM using a LC white pad and my PC set at 5-6.

Glaze with ClearKote's RMG using a LC black pad and my PC set at 5.

Seal with Pinnacle Souveran paste wax x's 3 by hand with a foam pad. Each layer of Souveran was allowed to cure overnight and wiped down with Crystal Mist before applying another coat.

All exterior glass and rubber/plastic seals have VM. Textured plastic trim has Meg's Natural Shine. Rims have PB's Wheel Sealant and tires have Z-16 x's 2.

Wash, clayed, taped up and ready to get jiggy!! :buffing:

Mike - great job as always. I have been out in the garage wiping it down and this thing is just crazy dripping wet and just looks flat out amazing; I cannot think you enough for the job you did. I just took this one picture to get more of the depth and wetness but the lighting is not good but just shows you how good it looks even in bad lighting.

Dude beautiful! amazing job, The Cobra/Mustang paint seems to be very prone to acid etching

When I first bought the car is was parked in my garage and a below ground parking deck for almost 2yrs. Then my office moved up the street and I lost the sealed parking and it sat out side for almost 1.5yrs but was parked in my garage at home. this is when all the damage was done. I will eventually get it wet sanded this year as well to get most of the marks out; I hope any way.

Mike made a HUGE improvement over WHAT it was before he laid his hands on it. I just go out into my garage and stare at it. My new cover should be here this week as well so she will be all sealed up and ready for car shows:D

My cobra is a 10th anniversary edition so those red seats and door panels are stock except for the gauges and chrome nobs they are aftermarket.
