Detailing Rottweiler
Hello all and Happy Easter to you and yours!

Man...did I get spoiled with this detail! Not only was it a gorgeous car but the client dropped the vehicle off at my house!!! I got a small taste of what it must be like to be fixed instead of mobile...brother did I enjoy it! Maybe some day I will consider the switch but for now I'll just enjoy situations like this when I can.

The vehicle is a 10th Anniversay edition 2003 Mustang Cobra. A gorgeous Snake that will one day most likely be worth some good money. The car had just under 13K on it and is the client's daily driver. The paint finish was in reasonably good shape with some light swirling but had seen an automated car wash or two and as such had some scratches on the hood and fenders.

The detail:

Wash with Meg's Gold Class shampoo

Polish with Meg's #83 DACP with my PC set at 5 using a Meg's 8006 pad. I'd say 98% of the spider webbing was gone and the deeper scratches were dramatically lightened. Another session or two with this combo and the paint will get even better.

Glaze with ClearKote's Vanilla Moose with my PC set at 4 using a Meg's 9006 pad. This deepened the color of the paint and added a very nice "wet-look".

Seal with ClearKote's Carnuba Moose wax by hand. I applied two coats of the CMW about 8-10 hours apart (the Cobra was left overnight) and can honestly say that the second coat produced a noticable difference in the paint. The paint went from looking just wet to looking soaking wet with the second coat!

Please excuse my less than stellar pics with this detail. The lighting in my driveway at the time of the photo's stunk and on top of it all it's pollen season down here in Georgia. That means if a vehicle is outside for even less than a minute a fine coat of tree sperm coats it!!! I hate this time of year even worse than the winter!!!!

Enjoy,

Mike:cool:

Cobra looks great! I dont care for the wheels.. I only do cars out of my garage, and yes it is nice. A few more and maybe you will make the switch ;)

Nice! Turned out really good!

I know what you mean about the pollen. It seems to be finally letting up here. Pretty horrible for a few weeks though.

1 Clean WS6, I did a 2002, Silver, Lexus and 2003, Black, Toyota Camry this week and the pollen was severe. I am out of Atlanta/Stone Mountain area. I hope the rain we get this weekend will wash all the pollen away and it is over for the year.

Your car looks great, beautiful job.

Ahh! reminds me of exactly how my GT looks 1 minute after pulling out of the garage. (2 big trees right next to the drive).

Are those 315's on the back?

Great work Mike. We have the same pollen conditions in Charlotte. I have four details planned this week. I'm usually disappointed with rain in the forecast but not this week. We're in a no win situation. :nixweiss I'll be glad to reschedule the details & my clients will appreciate it too. I finally got my order from Megs...& plan to use #16 for the 1st time.

Thank you all for the kind words!!

When I lived up north (NY/CT) I never remembered the pollen being like this. At times when the wind kicks in it honestly looks like their is a fine yellow snow in the air!! It is such a pain in the arse...I'll wash and dry a vehicle and a few minutes later...its yellow. We've had a very dry March so the conditions have been worse than normal...hopefully this Easter rain will take it out of the air.

LouisanaJeeper & rjstaaf those are the stock 17x9" 10th anniversary rims fitted with 315/35-17 Nitto555R drag radials. It is the only 315 series tire that I believe you can get to fit on a 9" rim because the Nitto sizing seems to be smaller than other brands. I've seen a 275/40-17 Nitto 555 side by side with a BFG KDW (same size) and can tell you without question that the BFG had a bigger footprint.:nixweiss

Terry your gonna love that #16!! I truly think it is Meg's super sleeper wax...no press or publicity but one of the best shine's in their product line IMHO!!

Looks like I didn't delete my post quick enough :) I knew they were the stock rims but, the more I looked at the tires the more they looked wider than the stock 275s.

It is true that Nitto tires typically are a bit narrower than others but, even Nitto recommends a 10.5" rim minimum for that size tire. If all you do is drag race than you will probably never run into an issue but, those sidewalls are not working the way they were designed to.

That is my car that Michael did this GREAT detail on!!! Michael it was a pleasure dropping my car over at your house; your garage ROCKS!! He is an avid car person just as I am so I felt even better dropping my car off with him since he has a few hot rides as well. Michael did a helluva job with my car as it has passed thru a few automated car washes, I know my BAD!! He did a complete detail including the engine and interior; the whole car looks like a big black puddle of wet black paint. As a side note I have already wiped my car down 3 times with the clearkote quick shine since the pollen is so bad and that is with my car in the garage all weekend except being driven late last night for a couple of hours!!! I will be sending my wife's 03 eddie bauer explorer his way in the next month as well for him to work his magic as well; hers is black as well:scared

As michael stated those are the 315's from nittos and they function just fine on the 9" wide rim, honestly they are just a tad wider than the stock F1's and present no issues with driving on them daily except the DR's are a little slick in the rain. Honestly these tires are not wide enough for a 10.5 wide rim 9-10" works best, now the 315 BFG DR is a 10.5/11" wide rim for sure at it is alot wider than the Nitto's. So far I have gotten 7k miles on them with about 40% tread left at this time and this includes about 20 1/4 passes on them.

Any one in the Atlanta area I HIGHLY suggest you give michael a call or PM him so he can detail your ride.
