02 Subaru WRX - VASuperShine'd

My car, a 2002 Subaru WRX...had the pleasure of having Brian (VASuperShine) work his super-shine skills on it... He noticed it all it's micro scratches at the local Tampa meet that he hosted at his house. I can normally hide them with some NXT but they always come back after a few washes, and it's been quite a few washes since I put anything besides FK425 on the paint. :chuckle: I hid them VERY WELL over the weekend with a little hand polishing and 3 coats of Ultima PGP but, I know without a machine polisher to actually REMOVE those scratches they would always come back. Brian removed them for me and did his best to correct a badly prepped hood. :

The only before pic I have (3 coats of Ultima Paint guard!):

Disclaimer: Brian doesn't have any Ultima products! I brought it over to his house, he is still a loyal Zaino user! :nana:

Haha, Thanks Erick. I am loyal to the best products that are fit for the paint I'm working on. It's funny you mentioned that inside joke though, things get a little crazy around here.

Ericks car is very nice, he takes good care of it. In person I would have to say it's one of the wettest silvers I have personally ever seen. I notices light elongated marring at a certain angle during a meet we had, it all cleaned up very nicely with op dacp mix orange/white pad @ 1600 rpm's. I can assure anyone who may wonder, this paint is 99.99999% marrfree. Thanks for having me work on it Erick.

:buffing: Nicely done

Nice ride. Love the wheels. Can you get those in 18's? Point me in the right direction

JJ

I forgot to mention, I removed that silver pinstripe (and some doorjamb paint from the crap paintjob!) shown in the first pic before Brian wiped it down with rubbing alcohol and began polishing :)

Thanks Josh, it is a sweet WRX. Erick has spent a lot of time and money on it and it's probably the best put together subie I have seen.

6 years I've had this project...I did all the work except for:

the paint and bodywork,

mounting and balancing the tires on the rims,

the windshield replacement..

umm...oh! wheel alignment

and now..machine polish!

I'm big on DIY, so basically anything I didn't have the proper tool for (like a welder or an electric polisher) I had someone else do for me. I DO have a leaf blower that is barely used, I promise I will dry the car like that from now on :waxing:

I was wondering actually... what are the autopians thoughts on compressed air powered D/A and rotary polishers? good/bad? Air tools rock!

It must be better looking more when i saw it at the meet! So how do you like the Ultima shine on your WRX Erick? After Brian got a hold of your ride bet it much be awesome......:xyxthumbs

I think the Ultima product is really great! and it's also pretty goof-proof, just wipe it on evenly and walk away. I figure the LESS I wipe and rub on the car, less chance for me to marr it!

I have to see it one day, to check out the shine and finish on it. I'll be doing mine maybe during the holidays when i'm off.....

hey guys did you have any ideas on how to remove that little but of overspray from the black plastic wiper cowling and not have the chemical attack the plastic?

I love that mod... my exhaust/wastegate setup on the car is so quiet under normal driving, until I put my foot in it and the turbosmart wastegate opens up to atmosphere and just SCREAMS open exhaust. Thats fun to do in tunnels and underpasses :)
