Was home for X-mas, so I cleaned up my parents vehicles.

First is the F150. It's daily driven and lately used on a construction site. It's a Northern car, so it's seen salt, grime, etc. Swirls were everywhere and the paint had light fade to it.

The TL was purchased in May of 2005 and to date, has 2,500 miles on it.

Both vehicles were treated to the PC7424 and microfiber products to remove and apply product. Used yellow pad (truck), white pad (both), blue (both) and green (both) pads.

F150 with 30k--Process:

Wash with Meguiars Gold Class

Simple Green cut 50:50 and stiff brush in wheel wells.

Light clay in some areas

3M Perfect It Polish

Sonus Swirl remover

Zaino Z5X2

Zaino Z2x2

Zaino Z8 between each of the Z5 and Z2 steps.

Polish rims with Meguiars cleaner/wax

Dress tires with Meguiars Insane Tire shine.

Dress wells with Tire Foam.

Oh yea...here's the heater I've been talking about that I installed in MY garage back in Chicago-land (parents live in the Cleveland, Ohio area).

45,000 BTU forced air, natural gas unit that's vented. Works GREAT!

They both look great! :up

Did you wash the vehicles in the garage with Gold Glass soap? Or outside?

Inside with water (hot&cold). My father has a torpedo heater that you can see in one of the pics that we use to take the chill off. Then he has a natural gas wall mounted unit that is ventless that can keep it around 50 degrees in the garage when it's 10 degrees outside. Works out great.

You didn't dress the tread of the F150's tires, did you? Looks like it, but the picture may just be playing tricks on me.

I knew someone would ask that :) No, high humidity in the garage allowed the wet tires to stay wet, longer. Tire shine was applied to the outside edge of the tire, only.

Where did the water drain to?

Hey there. I'm new to this site. I just purchased my first Ford. It happens to be a 02 F150 SuperCrew Lariat Edition with the FX4 Package.

First off I want to Say that you did a great job on that Truck. I will be doing mine up once the weather gets a little nice here in NY.(NO Heated Garage  )

my next question for you F150 owners is: Do you have any traction issues in extremely light snow(as in a Dusting)?

It seems to drive great in dry weather. but if it rains or god forbid we get a light snow IT is by far the worst thing I ever drove. :bawling: From dead stop on a flat surface 4x4 activated if I turn and try to go I go straight. I have to feather it ever so slightly to get going. I was told that the tires are the problem since I can see all 4 tires spin as I go straight(My head out teh window for you wise guys  ). They say that the tire is the only thing that would cause this if the wheels are turned and the tires are rotating.

Equipped on the vehicle is the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S 265/70 17. I think these are the factory tire. The truck has 51k miles on it. and the tread seems to look decent. I have read some nasty reviews on this tire and was curious if any of you have experienced this. Got my eye on a Set of BFG All-Terrain T/A KO tires. As these I have not seen 1 bad review.

90% of my driving is within 10miles from home traveling to and from work and to different Job sites throughout the day.(I do Plumbing/HVAC) So 10% of my driving is on beaten up roads or Dirt Construction sites. So i need a good performer in all types of weather and terrain. As of right now if it's not smooth and dry I'm not getting there. and that just don't fly. Esspecially for a truck of this caliber. :furious:

My previous truck was a 03 Dodge Dakota with a 3.9L This truck would drive just about anywhere in 2WD and if it got slick pop on 4x4 and it was like I couildn't be stopped. Only traded it in cuz I wanted more room and a bigger engine. Now I got that but, I can't drive the damn thing. :doh

So any help you all could give me would be greatly appriciated. I want to love this truck more than I did when I test drove it. but that feeling is dwindling and will be gone if I can't reslove this traction issue. :help:

Feel free to email me or post here thanks in advance,

Lariat(aka Rob)

I thought you dressed the tire treads at first too, but a line is just about noticeable. Then I realised you really put in the effort to clean it.

Both vehicles looked pretty rough before, but have come out really well.

I'm still a bit iffy about Zaino on red, but it looks great on burgundy.

welL$1000 LATER I got myself some new BFG All terrain T/A KO's and an alignment seems to feel 100% better just on dry roads. So we'll see when it snows again.
