It took 4hrs of work total, quite a lot of vacuuming before starting. Not all of the stains came out but it was much improved.

anyone able to compare cleaning carpets/interior using steam cleaner to say an extractor?

I know a good steam cleaner i can do engine bay, wheel wells, wheels, tires(?), leather seating...but wasn't sure how effective it was with carpets and fabric seats

Very nice work, as it was very nasty.

I use my steamer with a MF around a brush head for light soiled carpet. Spray with folex or TLC, let dwell then run steam over it.

For heavy soiled carpets, nothing will match my Mytee HP60.

don't understand how steaming the carpet get's it clean? (and I'm not trying to a smart aleck either) does the product make all the dirt rise to the top?

It gets it clean by breaking down the dirt and releasing it from the carpet, then the microfiber will absorb the dirt.

Its very effective, the carpet is dry almost right away too. There are steamers that offer water and chemical injection as well as units that work like an extractor.

yea I was looking at steam cleaners and extractors and I was hoping to find something that will work really well and if possible have both features (right now my biggest hole in arsenal is interior cleaning stuff) and I noticed that I saw some steam extractors, and hot water injection or something like that?

I mean all in all, the last thing I need is for me to spend from a few hundred bucks to the 4 figure mark to have something that's mediocre at best...but I mean having 1 machine that can have both features (so i can steam clean wheels/wheel wells/engine bay/seats/carpets) or a steam cleaner and an extractor would be awesome (less stuff to tote around)

I gave up my Durrmaid extractor for the steamer. I couldn't be more happy with my decision.

If you want a dual machine these are some I found:

The VC 400; 500 Ci and Super Vapor6 look like affordable machines if you don't need extraction, and they offer injection as well.

The site does have annoying sound that autoplays when you visit tho.

what're the benefits of that particular unit?

If I do buy one I think I'll be getting the professional grade machine

For me, chemical and water inject and it's continuous fill. It's also on the lower price side of the good units.

If you can afford a better unit, go for it!

lol i doubt it---but on the other hand I'd rather not buy a crappy unit, or a unit that's going to crap out on me either -=[ so if possible buying a cheaper great performing thing would be ideal =] i guess soon I'll be researching these machines =] thanks ~!

That machine is better than the one I have now, so for me its a step up. If you can afford something like the Dupray units, go for it.
