That kinda sucks. They may not be able to ever make a product like these again. Im not too worried about #16 but I would have like to tried mppc. But better not get into that one now, im sure I might like it too much and dont want to depress myself.

It all depends on how you look at it. This will force companies to come up with new stuff.

I like evolution. :D

Would you want to have available only what was available 50 years ago? Look at all the wonderful products that are for sale in 2005.

Bring on the changes!

That reminds me - has anyone tried the NXT paste yet? I saw it a week ago at a store.

No kidding. I love how they go after .00000005% of the problem because this is easy. ;)

The one that really bugs me is the $20000 fine that the oil compmanies are charged for dumping poison into the ocean while they make a billion a day.:down :down :down

They probably werent forced to just drop lines. Also I could care less if it was offered 50 years ago, just as long as they could use whatever chemical they deemed safe and shine enhancing.

If this trend keeps up they might not be able to create as strong of products or some other attribute. Just think of it like the rainforrest, something just went extinct. Thats not good for anybody. Allthough everyone will be just fine without, they might of just lost that "something."

Oh well. :wavey Bye bye stuff.

Well I really like #16, there was just something refreshing about a product over 50 years old that still performed well. I put in my order for another can so my stash should last me a few years. I knew the VOC regs would affect it, but I was hoping it would be reformulated and retain most of itsâ€â„¢ qualities.

The sad part is this is just the tip of the iceberg. My favorite polishes, 3M RC and MG, have been discontinued, Collinite will be reformulating, and who knows where Klasse stands or what their plans are.

Itâ€â„¢s not the end of the detailing world, new products will take their place, but I just hate to loose old friends. RIP #16

From what I've read, Manufacturers were give a "grace period" to "liquidate" non-compliant stock. I seem to recall they have until at least 2006, maybe 2007 to get rid of what ever stock they produced up until midnight Dec 31, 2004. This *could* mean that some manufacturers *may* have put production into full speed to stockpile it in anticipation of the "hoarding" of favorites that will be likely happening/is happening as the public finds out their favorites are deleted. There *may* be enough #16 at Meg's, for example, to be sold for a few months still, even at high rates of sale. Same possibility for the 3M line. IIRC the companies won't get fined for stockpiling until the grace period is up. (At which time, there may be big sales to get rid of anything that didn't go, as the fines for stockpiling seemed very high.)

I was thinking to myself that they ought to be able to reformulate it in a VOC-compliant version, but it just hit me that maybe they don't WANT to reformulate those products (the ones discontinued). We all speculated (suggested?) that Meg's might thin out their product line after they introduced all those new products for 2005.

Oh man that gotta be suck. Im going reorder another can of #16. Sheesh, I think within a year or so. I bet all the wax mft going refomulated their products(VOC crap)

What other product sthat similar to #16? I have Natty, thats the closes I have seen.

The rain forest can't be replaced. Chemicals can be.

Excellent point and to expound even further, possibly the cure for many diseases that may have been discovered in the future from some of these now and presently occurring extinction of plant, animal, microbial and insect species. :xyxthumbs

I was just looking at 3M's site and there was no mention of RC and MG being discontinued. Did you speak to somebody at 3M?

Well, even if there might be enough for a few more months of sales, im not taking chances. Placed my order last night :)

Meguiar's did no stockpiling and did not ramp up any production of the discontinued items. What is left is all there is.

Darn, I wish Meguiar's was publicly traded company. With this info I would definitely do some shorts. ;)
