What to do with flyers now that they are made

I discovered that for a little extra effort, but no extra expense, you can get a much better return on your fliers distributed door to door. All you have to do is write a personal message about a person's car in red ink at the bottom, just look at whatever's in the driveway and write something complimenting it but also stressing what a great job you could do on it or how much better it could look. This takes longer to do, but I have done it a couple times and usually get at least one call from ~25 fliers.

Another tip for distributing fliers door to door: go to an art store and pick up some "repositionable mounting tape". It's double sided tape that is just tacky, so once you put it on something (like a flier) it becomes just like a post-it note and you can restick it as many times as you want. It's cheap and it made my fliers a lot easier to distribute, no more looking for a crevice to put it and have the wind blow it away, just stick it right at eye level and your done. Keeps the fliers neater too, no folding or crinkling.

Those are the ones I use. You can get them at Office Max and just about any other office supply store too. If you want to look for them online then just look for "Inkjet business card magnet" or something like that.

I don't know about that.... If I saw some dude checking out my car and then putting a note on it then I would probably throw something at him as I chased him off my property. I would also probably call the police if I saw someone checking out my neighbor's cars. That is kind of a risky practice. However, if it works for you, then more power to ya. :bigups Just stay away from the Integra on Applewood street. :lol ;)

Well I don't actually place the note on the car, it goes on the front door to the house. And I try not to make it obvious that I'm checking out cars, usually I drive down a street and remember or write down the cars I see, park, write the notes in my car, and carry them back up the street by foot just dropping them off quickly. Admittedly, you could come off badly doing this but I keep it very low key and I've never had any trouble. Obviously word of mouth is preferable to any kind of advertising, but if your just starting out this is kind of a "quick and dirty" way to get some customers.

Another idea that I have tried out is to call on cars being sold in the paper. Tell the seller straight up that you aren't interested in buying it, but you may be able to help him sell it a little faster. A clean car always sells faster than a dirty car. I have worked in sales over the phone (Not as an annoying telemarketer, of course. It was all inbound sales.) for quite some time, and I have been a sales trainer for several years. That may make me a little better at selling a detail over the phone on an outbound call than the average bear, but it is certainly something that anybody can try. I only do it when I just feel the need to try out something new and I need a red car to use it on or something like that. ;) If your sales skills are strong and you know how to sell with confidence, then soliciting for a detail over the phone is pretty easy. Plus there is no cost to do it. You could even target cars with For Sale signs in them. There are lots of creative ways to get business.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but supermarkets and shopping malls have public bulletin boards for people to post flyers and notices. I spend most of my time at the bulleting boards while my wife shops. See a lot of other people doing the same. This is a free service, you just have to ask to put it up.
