"New Car" Smell

Is there a good fragrance that you could spray in your car to make it smell new again. Not like cherry or something the actual smell of a new car. This may be a crazy question, but I'd like some if there is such a thing.

Thanks

I have used regular Ozium in the past with good results...while I was at the store the other day, I saw that they had Ozium in "new Car Scent"...I

Ozuim "new-car" srpay.
I found it at Wal-marts. Tried it and wasn't too crazy about it. It had a nice enough smell, but didn't last very long

If you do a search through the forums you will see some post on this exact issue. I spent alot of time trying to figure out just what your talking about. IMHO Ozuim is not that great. Was not that great of a smell and the stuff didn't last. From my experience (this is where I always get in trouble) there are two types of air fresheners (not including the solid ones) water based and oil based. Oil based scents are suppose to last longer, but can potentially stain carpets and other surfaces. Oil based scents are hard to find. If someone finds them please post a link. Water based scents don't last as long, but don't stain anything.

Here comes the product indoresment::)
Dwayne at PAC has an awesome New Car Smell Leather. I have had many compliments on it. Scent seems to linger between 2 and 4 weeks. This is just my 2 cents.

What you think is a "nice", "good" or "new" smell is in fact nothing but oxidizing or evaporating gases from the glues, sealants and various adhesives used to hold your interior together. It is called Volitile Organic Compunds (VOC's) and they can make many people sick with nasuea and headaches.

So what you are seeking to re-create is the smell of your rotting car interior.....literally :hurl

What you may want to look for is a "leather" scent and one of the better scents I have ever smelled is from Chemspec (I think that's the right company name).

If you have leather or wish to use it on your clients cars then I suggest using Fourstars Leather Conditioner, great product with a great leather scent.

Anthony Orosco, thanks for the info. I think its the leather smell i'm after then. My grandmaw's new Jaguar smells so good inside and everytime I get in it I always love the way it smells. I guess it's the new leather i'm smelling. So....is there anything you could apply to the leather to get that smell back or keep it smelling like that b/c I get a lot of cars w/ leather. Thanks for the great info and suggestions everybody!
Thanks

I have used 4* Leather conditioner on leather and vinyl and it works great. Many cars have real leather in the seating areas only and the backs and sides of the seats are vinyl.
Follow the directions and you will love the results and it smells like new leather.

just to chime in on this topic, I steal this aerosal spray from work which is really good...it is called ENDBAC 11. it is a disinfectant spray, which 'disinfects hard surfaces, destrays bacteria mold and mildew and deodorizes air. Its from Johnson wax company. seems if you destroy whats causing the odour it wont come back after time. (hey it works for me.)

Any serious professionals here that use an Ozone machine. This method is big in the restoration business as well as Hotel chains. this truly destroys any odour causing bacteria etc..except it takes upwards of 12 hours to work?!

I use four star's leather scent spray. It smells exactly like their leather conditioner but it comes in a 32 oz spray bottle. Its just the scent and its only 6 bucks. Can't beat that!

I was going to post a link for you but I can't find it. Give Dwayne a call, I'm sure he has it because I have bought it from him.

I spray Poorboys Natural Look on the carpet next to the heater vents, and people have asked me what the smell is (because they like it).

Bed, Bath and Beyond have hanging air fresheners and one was leather. Yankee Candle something or other. (?) Hide under a seat or hang in the trunk instead of hanging from the mirror, maybe. I like the leather smell of Z-10 and thanks for listing Four Star as a possible alternative.

I purchased an ozone machine. This thing is pretty amazing. It makes the car smell really fresh and clean. My customers have really been amazed by the results. It was a little on the expensive side, however, it is definitely worth the money. After I finish a detail, I just plug it into the cig lighter socket and let it do it's thing. I usually let it run for 20 minutes or so with the AC set on recirculate.

I would not want ozone intentionally used on my car. It destroys rubber and plastic.
