AutopiaForum and Autopia.org MERGED! Breaking News

I'm hoping we can keep the family natured atmosphere that has been present here at AF. I sincerely believe this is one of the primary reasons we can talk even politics without the bickering so often present on forums. The members pretty much understand this simple axiom: the fact that you can say something, doesn't mean you should say it. I believe it has helped harbor an element of respect among members.

This is 100% accurate.

Well, not that anyone would care, but here's my take. Detailing forums are slowing going away, why? Well, look around, all the little forums are now gone, swallowed up by AG and the only other one where you could talk freely about products has sold out to "wal-mart". Now, some will say that's not true and you can discuss what you want, I'll wait and see on that one. But, it doesn't take a phi beta kappa to figure out that whomever is paying the bills, wants to see products pushed that they sell, it's business 101. And for what it's worth, i agree with that - .org was the exception IMHO.
So Tunch the chemist is back in lab creating more wonder products, that's fine. I tried a few of those and the new ones are actually really good. I dropped Megs polishes in favor of 3D. Their chemicals are above average too. It did take a while to get there, as the first attempts were not that good, but, they figured it out. I guess he got tired of putting money into advertising, er forum, that let anyone discuss any competitors product. So what's next? AG buying Chemical Guys so they don't have to rely on that little ol chemical company in Florida? I can see it happening.
As the great Cleavon Little said in Mel Brooks classic, Blazzing Saddles - well, you gotta admit, it's been getting pretty dull around here. And with that, I'm signing off, I may check back in a few years or not. I think I'll get into either archery or fishing.
Good by and good luck.
Lou

Trouble you should know........ Just because someone asks forgiveness, it doesn't mean they are repentant.

True, but if someone asks and you don't accept what does that say about you?

I bet if given the chance you and David will become fast friends

I think all have their place but social media has exploded for the detailing industry. Detailer Buddies has grown to way over a thousand members and approaching two thousand in just a short time. Wills of Windows and Wheels runs a great group that has spawned many sister groups. Detailing for Dummies likewise has become a hot spot for newbies. All of this can compliment existing forums and be beneficial to the growth of the industry. IMO.

I'm not a member of any of the groups you mentioned. I'm doing my own thing on Facebook

I'll pop in a detailing related forum from time to time, but don't have time for both

I dont really see much changing around here other then more people being members and how many of them will be posting?

Its still the same forum with the same mods (minus Todd helme).

I could be wrong. Whatever happens , I have no worries.

If i dont like it I will start my own forum, no men allowed. :lol2:

I keep hearing "members count" when discussion forums and other social media when bragging about size/importance but in the end, it really is about who and what are people posting that really determines the success in my opinion. It is just like voting. Those that do go out in vote (post) make the difference -- good or bad.

I agree, the AF forum was not the largest I have been a part of, but it is certainly the BEST on the net IMHO.

Lou....great post. Any good fishing forums that you can recommend? ;)

Ultimately a forum is defined by its membership. There is no doubt, in my mind, that AutopiaForums has returned the reputation that goes with the name Autopia. The end of the separation between the forums is positive in my opinion. I have no doubt, under PBMG leadership, that this forum will continue to provide a drama-free, OPEN information-based community.

I am further confident that we (the members) will maintain the friendly atmosphere that all of us have invested in fostering. Positive people attract positive people... Now we all have the opportunity to "rebirth" the name of Autopia and make sure that it is ONLY associated with OPEN information sharing - not drama, negative energy or personal vendettas.

You guys helped me to restore the name of Autopia, and now we -together- have an opportunity to shape into the leading community of car crazy nuts!

I am looking forward to visiting more often :)

Just like with anything that gets lots of "voices" Detailer Buddies is not a place I'd want to spend my time anymore so I asked to be removed. Too many big egos are way out of line in that group.

Todd, I think a new write up of a Buff Fest 2014 would be a good way to start it off on the right foot and build some momentum.

Not a bad idea since the detailing boards all slow down as the winter rolls in. We all have to live through our southern and west coast friends.
