how do ya like it?
how do you guys keep going? i feel like everytime i try to do my dad's car, i just break down. i keep sweating and the tempereature is like 93, with lots of humidity. do you guys drink a lot of water, or eat a lot of breakfast? i need some tips of surviving the day. maybe i should spray myself a couple of times to keep cool or something.

:ranton

I bought an air conditioner for my garage...that helps a bit. hehehehe

Before I just sweat it out. Drink lots of water and take lots of breaks. Maybe invite some of the neighborhood hotties over to help and have wet t-shirt contest? Never tried that but it sounds like a Hell of an idea!

SUPPOSEDLY...you can pour cold water over your wrists. It is supposed to cool you off by cooling the blood that runs through you. I don't know if it works or not. You could always give it a try. I know heat and humidity now - I think summers in the south are worse than anywhere else I've been!

Maybe try cooling your neck?:dunno I remember Sharper Image had a device that did so. Drink ALOT of water. Cover yourself for the sun.

The BEST way I found is to start when the sun goes down. Even if it means using lights, its smarter and your in a better mood. The neighbors aren't out either. :D

zesty i live in a hot place too!!!!!!!!!!!. i start real early so i can wash the car without alot of sunlight then i jump in my pool alot ... i know it gets hot .. other times i have to go inside the house with ac on drink some fluids & take a break .. also i pickup the car in the evening & wash & do the interior then go to bed late & get up and finish before it gets hot again.. good luck

yea i saw that thing at sharper image. i tried it on, and it makes a lot of noise............ i cant work at night, because my mom gets mad at me because the neighbors tend to sleep really early. maybe i can start at like 6 and work till 12.

I think water is the key. Also, if you can have some sort of shade or a fan that has worked great for me. I look at it this way if I am not sweating then I am not working hard enough! Yesterday, I started at 1pm and washed two cars here in the AZ heat (115 degrees with some humidity) I was constantly sweating and my shirt was sticking to me, but it was all worth it in the end.:)

water is the key also a gatorade is a good thing ... and eat light . i cant eat heavy food when its hot powerbars , fruit .. also rest

There are a lot of things that you can do to keep cool!

1. If you can I recomend keeping a fan on where ever your detailing beleive it or not it does help keep you cool when your taking your 5 min breaks in between your various different things!

2. Drink lots of water...stay away from ice tea, soda, or anything else with high sugar contents. Even though gatorade replaces "electrolites" it doesn't really "Quench Thirst" like it says! nothing beats some cold water!

3. Clothing..You want to stick with Light weight Highly breatable/moisture wicking clothing! Here are some examples of what you might want as for clothing!

This first one is a cooling neck wrap ... works great ! Also a head band to keep sweat out of your eyes is a great thing as well!
1. Coolgardieâ„¢ Body Cooling Neck Wrap
2.Terramar® Transport Micro-Mesh Short Sleeve Tee (For Men)
3.Terramar Transport Micro-Mesh Short Sleeve Zip-Front Tee (For Men)
4.Duofold High Performance Lightweight Sleeveless Mesh Crew (For Men)

I feel your pain!!!

I detail cars everyday and where I'm doing it now the temp is over 100 daily (in the Summer). I think you have humidity issues where you are, but I put up a permanent 10' x 22' canopy and run a huge industrial fan inside of it when we detail. That helps alot.

The rest is all about hydration. Water is fuel. :)

I second the start early in the morning , even if that means getting up at 6am . If your working totally outside get yourself some type of canopy (10x10 or 10 x 20 ) so your working in the shade. Drink lots of water , not soda or pop. Take breaks . Get one of them blue blowers ( its a small fan that puts out a huge amount of air ) I saw a nice fan at Walmart today for $39.95 its like the Blue blower only its yellow and made by Stanley , it even has two 120-volt outlets on the side.

Try working inside a shop with no fans, no air circulation, and clogged drains so there's a giant pool of water. Humidity is around 90%+. I was taking a break every 2 hours today. I can't wait to be 100% on my own.......

you cant imagine what i just did, i pressed the back button on accident so i had to retype all of this... anyways, im really intereted in that neck wrap. does it really work? that thing looks cool. how long does it last? can i buy it somewhere locally?? as for the other apparal, being a tennis player, i have special t-shirts that dont stick to my body when i sweat. their lightweight, and very stylish. called nike dry fit shirts and hats and pants, sorta like what underarmour has. hey, thats a good point. do any you guys wear hats when you detail? ah, also, i got tons of gatorade at home. i have the powder that you dilute with water to make gatorde, good stuff.

hmmmm, can you give me a hyperlink to that? that looks prertty intereting to me. also, is it really easy to move and stuff? also, would it be possible to blow out the outlet? i mean, im gonna have the fan going, the PC, and maybe a 500 watt worklight. im not quite sure if i can get myself up at 6, especially when i went out the last nite, but ill try.

ah, and a question to all you moblie detailers. what do you do to keep cool? i mean, do you bring a cooler with a gallon of drinking water? how about when you have to take a piss from drinking all of that water? do you just nicely ask the hostess where the bathroom is, and i mean, isnt it rude if you used the bathroom 2-3 times in one detail?? anyways, thanks. lots of useful responses!!!

This one isn't the same one I saw at Walmart today but its close. I checked the Walmart web site they dont have it there. Must only be a instore item. Click>>Stanley fan< you could do a google search to see if you can find it cheaper.

Click>>Blue Blower< again you could do a google to see if you can find it cheaper . Also look on ebay , they have them from time to time .

When you sweat alot and drink water to replace what your sweating you don't need to go so much ;) if ya know what I mean:lmfao . Get yourself a big cooler and full it with ice and bottles of water .

The neck wrap lasts for about 30 + mins ... but it works extreamly well! I use them all the time.... If do buy them I recomend that you buy 2 of them. You keep them in your cooler and rotate them every so often!

If your worried about the shipping and handleling Ill look to see tommrow but i think I might beable to help you out. There are some advantages to working there!

As for you saying the Nike and the underarmor that is very true! However that clothing does tend to get expensive. And when your wearing them all time for work they pre-maturely wear out (its inevitable) so why waste the money on nice clothes when you can buy a great product for 1/4 the price... you know what im saying?

hmmm, thanks for the help guys. you work there focus??? very nice. ah, and the nike stuff, i think ill get that, gives me a chance to purchase more merchandice. ill probbaly chance into it after i do washing and claying, and all that dirty stuff. i dont mind wearing them out and such. i like the coolors :)
