Is there a trick to using 3M IHG?

After polishing with 1Z Paint Polish on Meg's yellow pad on a DA machine, I started to apply Imperial Hand Glaze before the sealant wax. I applied by it hand using a microfiber pad applicator. Even applied very thinly, this stuff is rock hard instantly and the only way to get it off is to moisten it with more glaze and wipe off while still wet. Even then its stubborn. Am I doing something wrong? Bad batch of IHG?

Not sure but I would not use IHG before a sealant. IHG leaves a lot of oils as filler and sealants tend not to cure well over a glaze like that...unless the formula has changed.

I stopped applying the IHG after doing the top (my arms were ready to fall off), so not much is lost if I have to redo it.

Its been years since I used that stuff, but I don't remember it being that difficult to remove. Were you using it indoors or out? 3M products hate being used outdoors and tend to dry up quickly, especially if exposed to direct sunlight.

Outside, but it was in the shade with temps in the 60s. The car surface was cool. I looked at IHG reviews on Amazon an hour ago and many rate it 5 stars but warn "do not let it dry on the paint". Too bad 3M didn't include that in the directions. I used to use it as the final step in buffing new lacquer, but don't remember it "setting" so hard either.

Gotta remove it while still wet like any polish. Work small sections then remove and you will be fine.
