My 2012 Black Camaro

I had a couple days off from work due to lack of work so I decided to do a full detail on the car or I should say finish what I had started a few weeks ago. To explain that, I had started polishing the car a few weeks ago until my GG orange pad disintegrated about 1/2 to 3/4 done and never really got all the scratches out. I also noticed that when I was done polishing had a haze look or fog. Turns out I did some searching and found out it is DA haze. I ordered up some new pads, LC CCS Cool Wave pads in orange and white and with the time off I decided to detail.

So I did a foam with the foam gun and rinse, washed car thoroughly and rinsed, while wet I used GG Paint Prep to take off the BFWD and BFCS I put on a few weeks ago. Another complete rinse. Dry the car. Pulled car into garage. Now the fun begins. I broke out an LC orange pad and Meg's UP and did up the areas that needed it and I missed after last polish, basically whole car again. Cleaned up with GG pre-wax cleaner. Then onto the BFGEP and a white LC pad to take out the DA haze. Now that is done and determined if I should wait until today to put the protection back on. Well I was tired but toughed it out and grabbed the GG red pad and the BFWDAFPP and put a coat on the car and that finished out yesterday. Now today to finish, I put on BFCS, I don't know if anyone else is having the same problem I am but I know I am using twice as much of this stuff as I should be. It is so hard to see it go on the black paint and the spots I can see it seems like it disappears faster then I am putting it on. Oh well, when that is gone I have this huge bottle of UPGP that was free with the orders around the winter holidays so I am set for a while. I am happy with the results but know I have seen better here.

Sorry for being long winded here are the photos:

Open to all criticism good or bad. Thanks for taking the time to read and look.

Not sure if anyone will notice but would like thoughts of the de-badging of the front fenders. A lot easier to detail and a cleaner look.

Thank you very much Todd! Without the fine people on this forum I don't think I could have done this. I am still learning.

From the pics car looks great! But with your post, you got a D/A Haze from UP and an orange pad? Also GEP works well as a paint cleaner I think the CG step was not really needed since you were using GEP. Usually GM black isn't on the soft side to haze with something like UP. As far as BFWD topped with CS, I've found with CS if you let it "level" or Flash on the panel and do quick wipe after its pretty easy to catch any high spot, I usually use a QD for this. Hope it helps

Looks great bud! I truly love the de-badge look. It keeps the car looking super clean. :)

I was using the GG orange pad and after I did a section I shined a light on it and it seemed to look like it had a fog. That pad started to come apart before I finished. I thought once I had the BFWD on that would disappear but I swear I could see it under the light but was at a car show with it and it looked fine outside. Couple week ago I placed an order for LC pads. I did a test section with the LC cool wave orange pad and it looked a lot better and a lot cleaner with this pad. I guess I did the GG paint prep so I didn't end up with all the stuff in the polishing pad. I had bought the stuff last fall never used it and figured I could just as well try it. I guess my thought was the less on the paint when using the polish and then BFGEP the better. I am still learning all this and yes it all helps, thank you.

Thank you. At least I am not cleaning polish and wax out of them with my little detail brush that looks like an over sized toothbrush. Think it took me about 30 to 40 minutes to get all them and the glue stuff off. I like it.

Looks great!

Thanks.

Looks great! With the CS, I just mist one shot on the microfiber applicator per panel (for hood and roof do one squirt for each half). I will usually get some streaks and hazing, especially after the 2nd coat. 4 hours or so after the 2nd coat, I'll detail it with BF WDPS. That takes care of any haze and leaves a real nice slick shine!

Looks very nice thanks for sharing.

Thank you!

I am definitely using too much. Hood and roof I used 2 for each half, 1 and a short pump for doors and 1 for each quarter panel, trunk and fender. LOL, between this and the UPGP I will have a hard time using it up. Thanks for the advice I appreciate it. I will try and back off a little.

Excellent work!

Thanks.

Nice Camaro!

Thanks.

I want to thank everyone for the advice and compliments. I know it is not 100% as it is my DD and it is hard to keep black clean(man I wished I would have listened to my friends about black). I still have some marks and chips in it but I expect that. I really couldn't have gotten it to this point without this site and the advice of you experienced detailers and for that I am thankful.

End of next week I have to get the car ready for a car show and I will be able to try that Wolfgang Fusion that I won on that Biggerest Kahuna contest. Love the smell and been waiting to give it a try. I would have tried it by now but didn't want to waste it just to see it collect dust at work.

Thanks for looking,
Dean.

I too run a camaro SS and have been playing around with what works for this paint. I get absolute Mirror shine doing the following
meg's 205 with a white cool wave pad on a griots buffer
BF WD with a blue pad
2 coats BF CS 6 hours apart
opti coat on wheels

if I had some defects like you, I'd try Meg's Ultimate Compound or Menz fg400 a white or orange pad -

tried a few new sealants, Prima HM, adams Machine sealant - all good, but not overwhelmingly better than WD/CS

you can't damage a paint job with an orbital and foam pads.....it's virtually impossible....you have many, many, many polishes you can do before you are in trouble.....you need to increase the cut..I suggest Menzerna FG400 or if you have to "stay local", get Meg's Ultimate compound. (why? never understood staying local, you buy once) .... both are amazing stuff...

but I know how you feel about not wanting to do damage -so I asked the experts here last year:
