Harley Davidson Sportster

If it has paint and chrome I can detail that too. My cousin brought me over his Harley Davidson Sportster to detail. Process was a strip wash with Chemical Guys Citrus Wash and Gloss. I used various size brushes to clean the rims and engine bay with Megs Super Degreaser. The rims got Poorboys Spray and Rinse. Clayed with Speedy Prep fine grade towel. Polished with PC on a orange 4" pad with Menzerna PF-2500. Engine was polished with Adam's #1 and #2 metal polishes. It was dressed with Megs Plastic and Vinyl Spray. Bags were treated with Adams Leather Conditioner. It was waxed with Pinnacle Souveran paste wax. I think that was it. On with the pics.

i'm always amazed at how dirty my bike gets with just a couple hours of ride time. harley's vivid black paint will scratch and swirl just looking at it. that was a very nice turn around.

I'd say you got that Sprortster dialed in, great job.

Thanks!

The paint was very very soft so I tried do as little touching after I polished it out. Thanks!

Great job!! How many hours you put in?

Thanks. It was about 4 hours. I could have done a lot more but he was only paying for that amount of work to be done in that time frame.

I do more bikes than cars these days, extremely time consuming. Nice work!

Question, what process and tools are you using to clean the top of the cylinder heads in the tight places?

I have a process but would be interested in yours?

Spokes? what's your cleaning process there?

GREAT work!

...harley's vivid black paint will scratch and swirl just looking at it.

I Agree!

I heard about it...but then a while back I actually did one. What a PAIN!
Vivid Black has to be the WORST paint color to come off the Harley line!

It drove me crazy!
I took me a many product/pad combos but I finally nailed it.
I got rid of the swirls and micro haze and they stayed gone.

I don't ever want to do another one. It was a beast!
When done I turned it into a clear "hard as a rock" finish.

Thanks for reminding me. (ARGH)

Thanks. I used a handful of different style brushes like these

Wheel Woolies Boar’s Hair Detail Brush 1 inch

I used Megs APC+ at 4:1 dilution to get the cylinder heads and right places. It seemed to work pretty well.

For the spokes (major PITA) I used Poorboys spray and rinse to clean and some of the same style brushes. I polished with Adams #1 (blue hex applicator) and #2 (microfiber applicator) to get it shiny.

What kind of tips or tricks do you have for working on bikes?

GREAT work!

Lot's of brushes like your using, and I also have a number of artist style paint brushes. Using the ends of those with a micro fiber towel I had push and pull the towel into areas that can't be reached other wise.

One of the best tricks I have learned is to use an air compressor..The shop that I so these at I can hook up air nozzle. Spray cleaners into super right areas, try and reach them with a brush if I can, then blow the area clean.

On the spoke this works like a charm to get them cleaned up quickly

Two bikes that I've done as an example of my work!
