I got a bottle of this a few months back when it first came out, I have NOT done any engine bays in like 3 months so it sat on the shelves. Yesterday though, I up-sold a customer after seeing her engine bay >_> and my god was it dirty. Great way to test it this stuff, so lets get started.

PRODUCT: Meguiar's Engine Cleaner
PRICE: $4.99
Meguiars Engine Cleaner

CLAIM: Environmentally safe cleaning power!
Non-caustic cleaners break up grease
Spray on and rinse away
Safe for the environment
Meguiars Engine Cleaner is a safe, environmentally friendly alternative to harsh engine cleaners. Using state-of-the-art cleaning technology, Meguiars Engine Cleaner removes grease and grime from engines without offensive fumes and without degrading rubber or plastic. Use it with confidence to get your engine clean.

DIRECTIONS (written exactly from bottle): SHAKE WELL. For best results, use on a cool surface in the shade. Read vehicle manufacturer care guidelines before use.

1. Rinse entire engine bay with water and remove loose debris. Be sure to cover and avoid sensitive electronics

2. Spray Meguiar's® Engine Cleaner liberally and allow to penetrate for 2-3 minutes (for heavy grime, agitate with brush). Rinse away overspray from any adjacent painted body panels as soon as possible.

3. Rinse thoroughly with water before the product dries.

TIP: Works great for wheel-well cleaning. Spray Meguiars® Engine cleaner into wheel-wells, allow 30 seconds to penetrate and rinse off.

ITEMS USED IN REVIEW:
-Meguiar's Engine Cleaner
-Daytona Brush (Small)
-Wheel Woolies
-Mothers Wheel Brush
-Firehose Nozzle

CONCLUSION: Stuff works exactly as it says, cleans surprisingly great without harsh chemicals. Smell of product is not bad at all either. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. All in all, its $5.00 well spent. Hope you enjoyed my review!

At that price you can make money doing a engine bay.

Now that's 5 bucks well spent! What was your total time?

Did you use anything to "dress" the engine afterwards?

My question is do you find a foaming APC to work just as well? Because if you do, I would imagine it being cheaper using that route. For example, I like Adam's APC for the engine bay. At $35 a gallon for the APC, and around 6-10 oz used, it only costs a few dollars. If I dilute the APC, it costs even less. I guess in the end it's a few dollars, but I wonder how much the performance differs.

Either way, great results Colin!

ya i too liked the megs but found to be expensive. So i went with APC.

That's what I have been using previously was Foaming APC, but oddly enough I like this stuff better, just seemed to "do the job" better and cut through the grime with ease.

Nice review colin. I wonder how this compares to Megs super degreaser for engine cleaning?

I alway used Meguiar's D108 Super Degreaser 1:4 (water). Get 90% the dirt off. Just be careful try not to spray on any paint surface, it may etch the paint surface. Or pre-wet the painted area.

Great review, Meg's makes some really good OTC products. While they may be expensive for the professional detailer they are great for the hobbyist and weekend warriors alike. Easy to get your hands on and certain stores regularly run up to 40% off the products.

I did a review on the Hot Rims Foaming Wheel Cleaner and after trying a couple different methods I find that the higher cost is more than made up for in ease of use and effectiveness.

I'll be adding a bottle or two of this to my next purchase to compare with the Meg's Super Degreaser and APC combo that I currently use.
