How come no samples like the Geek?

It is Obamacare. The costs from this bill are weighing down the balance sheet at Autotopia. Write your congressman.

For you people that have a detailing business I could see the BOGO thing. Now I don't order that often, ended up once before and once during the holidays and was only going to order the one time, and when I do buy something such as BFWD on the last order one bottle is going to go bad before I get to use it all. So BOGO would not be beneficial to me. Now maybe instead of BOGO, say if you bought minimum of $50 or $100 that you could pick an item for free, something within reason from a list of things. The reason I placed a second order was I couldn't pass up the Black Friday weekend deal that when you spent x amount of dollars you got a free item. I had a couple more items that I needed but was going to wait until spring, bad thing about it was that I was short a little in the cart to meet the criteria but added another item and I got the free sealant. Spent even more money than I normally would have just to get something for free.

I wouldn't mind seeing maybe samples added to orders. Not sure how AG does it for there samples, maybe someone can explain to me that has ordered from them, do they give you a choice or do they just throw in a sample of their choosing? As far as samples I go, if ACC does decide to look into doing it I would not just want them to throw in something of their choosing I would rather choose something from a list of samples of products that I normally wouldn't buy that I could be able to try without having to buy a large amount of and find that it doesn't work to my liking.

Just my thoughts,
Dean. :bigups

You get to choose from about 30 different products if you pay over $50. They are all lines owned by PBMG, but that's totally fine with me! A good product is a good product!

What are the chances of samples over $50 happening? I realize that AG and ACC are two different businesses, but a good idea is a good idea regardless of where it came from.

To be honest, I'm not sure. One of the things I am always looking at is how to we make Autopia-CarCare.com (and AutopiaForums) better. There have been suggestion threads before with lots of great ideas, some of which have been implemented and some of which are still works-in-progress. I read every thread on here and love the feedback. It makes my job easier & rewarding for two reasons: One, your suggestions are often better than mine and Two, I can focus on giving you guys what you want.

When I first started here I asked what products you guys wanted to see in the ACC store: Gtechniq & Chemical Guys were two big ones. It took a while (as business can) but all of PBMG benefited from the suggestions here. This is just one small example of how your ideas, although they can take time, benefit everybody.

I like the idea of samples, and lets face it those evil Autogeekers have some great minds working for them, but why can't we do something better/different?

Oh boy... ;)

Seriously, I do think there are THREE amazing suggestions in this thread that will make ACC different than AG.

1) A loyalty program: Getting shipping free and/or other benefits with an annual subscription... A good place to see this SUCCESSFULLY implemented is Amazon PRIME.

2) Half off certain products. Instead of BOGO, sometimes, someone only wants one product. Half off would be great and DIFFERENT reason to buy from ACC as opposed to AG.

3) Daily Deals. Once again, look to Amazon to see this idea SUCCESFULLY implemented. Yesterday they had a Samsung laptop that was MSRP at $1000 for $700. You bet they sold TONS of those yesterday.

For this to work like amazon, there would likely need to be some lower free shipping or fixed rate shipping.

For folks like us, shipping is charged by package size, distance, and weight so that 1 gallon of chemical costs more than that one polishing but typical AG nd others charge by dollar value.

I would prefer to see weight a variable in low dollar orders (under the free shipping).

What is ironic is that there is a least one popular seller that charges by weight (few orders every ship less than $12 to $15 shipping) yet people do not complain about them.

Well that is where number 1 would come in handy. The annual membership for free shipping ;)

The program implemented by PBMG brands is one that saves the customer the most amount of money. Unfortunately shipping cost money and yet very little of that cost is passed to the consumer.

When I worked at PAC, they would PAY UPS several hundred thousand a year in owed money from money lost on shipping fees. PBMG is a MUCH larger operation that offers better shipping rates...

I recognize that given the expectation on shipping prices these days (many include free shipping) it is now just a cost of doing business. USPS is actually the lowest cost shipper for smaller items with first class and flat rate boxes. But, I know high volume shippers get discounts individuals do not get but still an expense.

Agreed.

I do enjoy the different sales that ACC offers. I almost placed an order with them when they were offering a free BFMS with $150+ purchase.

Aren't autopiaforums and autogeek both owned by the same parent company? I don't see why both can't have a BOGO section, offering different items of course. And if this is the case, why does AG have so many more items than autopiastore?
