Question for those using BFWD AFPP

Help!

Last month I purchased BF GEP, TPnS and WD AFPP. Is AFPP more a liquid vs. paste? I shook the bottle for a long time and its consistency remaimed in a liquid state. When I put it on a red CCS Euro pad it ran and eventually soaked through to the other side. I thought this was strange but went ahead and applied it. Will apply a second coat Sunday.

While I didn't think it would be a paste like the other BF products I thought it would be less watery. Is this normal or do I have a bad bottle?

Thanks, Jim

Blackfire Wet Diamond has a runny consistency. It's completely normal. Just be sure to shake it up well. Try using a black pad which doesn't soak up as much product compared to the softer blue and red pads.

Thanks for the reply. I just wasn't sure if what I had was normal or not. And thanks for the black foam pad tip. I see where it makes sense to use the black over red.

If you have it soaking thru the pad, you are using wayyyyyyyyy too much product. A couple of drops per panel is all that is required. Spread it super thin and one bottle should give you 30+ applications.

BF WD needs to be shaken a lot, mine was very runny and I thought this cant be right! I shook the crap out of it and it eventually turned into a thin lotion constancy. Just keep shaking!

Exactly. Shake it up for a couple minutes for the best results. You will "hear" it thicknen up.

Yup, you would need to aerate the liquid to get a thick air-in-liquid emulsion... sorta like foamed milk or a milkshake. It's the same situation for the Wolfgang DGPS =)

the heck with all the shaking!, just use a paperclip and chuck it in a drill. i just open one all the way up and bend the end in a U shape, then i put it in the bottle and turn it on a low speed and let it blend together, this usually brings it back to a nice consistency.

That's a pretty cool way of doing it! :bigups:bigups

i cant shake products for too long, i loose my grip and the product goes flying, so i found an easier way to do it LOL...heck you can even buy one of those cheap milk frothers(like a mini mixer) and use that to mix your product if needed...

I taped mine to my DA and ran it on 1 for a minute like someone else did on this forum. That mixed it up nice. Use duct tape if you do this and remember to tape the lid shut.

shake very well to get it thickened up. some other sealants behave the same way (wolfgang DGPS comes to mind).

Some good tips recommended here. Usually I shake the life out of it by hand and give it a few smacks against my metal shelves. That smacking action sometimes does the trick.

and soaked through the pad? way too much product my friend. never even came close to that. If you think you need more product, put the pad on the glass. often you realize there is plenty of product being put down you're just not seeing it very well because of the angle.

That was me!! Now I actually have a backing plate for my flex that I have metal latches screwed to that will clamp down on almost any size bottle in seconds just for this reason

This thread is like a year old my friend! I hope they figured it out by now :lol2:

Dear Todd & Friends

I just redid my spring detail because I didn't give BFWD enough cure time. And after putting the second coat on the van today, I learn that it should be like lotion, not runny.

I just said a curse word at the top of my lungs. You probably heard me.

I shook the bottle for about ten to fifteen seconds. It was runny.

I've never seen my paint more reflective, so I assume it still worked.

Right or wrong, after this second time around, I ain't doing it again.

Should be "lotioney". Not as thick as TPnS but close. Tape that thing on your DA for a few minutes (use duct tape and tape the lid shut too)
