leaf blower suggestion plz?

well, turns out i don't have the electrical setup to run a 19A master blaster.

next best option i can see is the leaf blower.

i'm mostly interested in blowing out the lug nuts, wheels, crevices, etc. not so much interested in drying the whole car with it. i'm fine with using a Guzzler to do that.

can anyone who has had success with using the leaf blower give me specific model recommendations?

anybody have any personal experience with the metro sidekick? one thing drawing me away from a sidekick is that i'd bet the leaf blowers you guys recommend are cheaper.

The most powerful electric leaf blower I know about is the Toro for about $60. It draws 12A.

I have one that I use for blowing leaves but my first one died after maybe 6 hrs or so of use about 2 weeks ago. The motor lost power and emitted the tell tale smell of fried motor. It was under warranty and just received a new one as a replacement.

I even used 12 AWG cords etc when running it long distances (100 feet) which would be sufficient.

When I took it in, the person said he had several come back for the very same reason.

I bought a TroyBilt from Lowe's 2 years ago for about $50.00 and it works great. It does what it's supposed to do and I've never had a problem with it.

I have a 220mph Sears leaf blower. It served me well before I pulled the trigger for the Master Blaster.

Just a note.

Lowe's sells a couple like the TroyBilt I posted. The cheaper one is very round through the body and many have not been satisfied with its performance and returned it for the one shown above...

I think the cheaper one was about $30.00....

I pick one out on sale at one of these big box stores. My recommendation is to get most powerful / fastest speed that is in your budget. At the end of the day the air speed is what moves the water.

the jetspeed product looks interesting since its marketed as a detailers product. it says 12000 rpm. everyone likes to tout their capabilities using different parameters which makes it hard to compare technical details. i like how its pretty small. i have used my gas stihl blower and what i dont like abt it is how its heavy. also, the exhaust port gets hot and this comes into play when your maneuvering it around.

thanks for the advice and tips so far...

The Jetspeed is definitely not as powerful as the TroyBilt that Bobby illustrated (I have both). I bought the Jetspeed for the light weight. It has 6 speeds and I use #3 for getting water out from around the lug nuts and 5 or 6 to dry the car.

thanks. this is really helpful. prob pass on the jetspeed then. will look for an electric leaf blower with lots of air.

i also only do my own 3 cars. getting it to deal with the areas you cant dry with a guzzler towel. lights, grille, mirrors, fuel filler, etc.

whether its worth it or not probably depends on you and your experience some also use it to dry the whole car.

Getting any blower is only worth what you determine the time, effort, ease-of-use, paint condition, etc., is to you and you alone.

Or put another way, how much do you like a car/s dripping water for an hour or so, on your garage, etc..?

How much do you like water in all those door jambs, door sills, moldings, tailpipes, sunroofs, etc... ?

If you are like many of us here, you don't really want all that water everywhere, unless you live in an area where it can dry quickly, and you don't have to worry about water spotting the paint and glass.

Good luck with your research !

So are you suggesting a blower helps prevent these issues?
