Here is a write up of a detail I did this past summer while in Nashville TN. This Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII has the Full Race Twin Scroll 4088r turbo kit pushing out 800whp. These Evo's are notorious for the paint fading out due to their single stage paint and the owners not keeping the paint properly protected. This car was fun to detail and even more fun to ride in. Here is the write up, hope you enjoy!

Here is the car when I began

It's a little hard to tell from the white being so bright, but the paint is pretty faded.

I gave the car a thorough foam bath

After the wash, the car was brought inside for the prepping stage, (Clay baring and taping of trim)

You can see in the reflection of the LED light bar that the paint has some pretty bad oxidation.

Nice amount of Gloss has returned

The Meguiars Microfiber DA cutting disc and D300 were used for the correction.

While working on the car, I noticed the hood vent had some paint missing.

So I removed the hood vent and taped off the trim around the edge and applied a good even coat of Satin Black paint to make it look new again.

Next is the Passenger rear quarter panel. In this pic you can see how bad the oxidation was

Nice write up. You can really see the difference on the after shots. It had a lot of oxidation on it

Wow a Twin Scroll 4088R turbo kit pushing out 800whp! lucky the engine is still in that car. Great work Eric, looks super:bigups

No second polishing step up after d300? just wondering if it finished down that well on its own

wasn't aware that some of those evos have single stage paint. good to know

Eric,

Another fine example of how nice the color white can look with a little effort and a few products.....Gorgeous!! :bigups

Great car Eric, I always loved those cars. How do you decide what polishes to use? Is the MF system good for light to moderate work. I have been curious about the MF system but thankfully my polishing is been curtailed by my increased washing knowledge. I still need to touch up some areas now an again and have been using the Menzerna 203, 106 to handle most issues. I have 105 and 205 but so far they remain untried.

Great Job.

Jeff

Wow, looks great! Can't believe manufactures are still using SS paint, but I guess on a go-allout-fast car they spared that expense.
