Lexus headlight restoration and Opti-Guard

I got contacted by someone from the Lexus forums (referred through Ryan Tornio, thank you) for a headlight restoration on his Lexus IS250. These lights had slight oxidation, but worse was an attempted repair carried out sometime in the vehicle's past with less than stellar results. Extra time was required to undo the previous attempt at correction and then restore the clarity and protect the lenses. Foglights were also bad, extreme # of rock impacts. Majority were sanded out for a better finish.

Once completed, all lenses were sealed with Opti-Guard, made by Optimum Car Care. After sealing with this, it basically creates a new clear coat on the surface to permanently protect it. These lenses should never fade or need correction again.

Thanks for checking out!

Looks great Jeff. What was the previous damage? Looks like someone tried sanding them and left it at that, without polishing?

Thanks guys!

I forgot to post the process:

Process was damp sanding on the PCXP with Trizact 1500 then 3000.

Compounded with GI white wool pad and M105. *rotary*
Polished with LC orange and M105, then LC white and M205. *rotary*

And like in the title, sealed with Opti-Guard.

Great write up and pictures to show the work, a must for a newbie to read and look on. Thanks for sharing Jeff!:bigups
