Ready to give up on FK425 - very frustrated...

As to proper use I used it just like all the others and I'm not willing to go through a special ritual to make it work I just go back to using what works.

this is interesting cause each product has their own ritual to use. just like with waterless/rinseless washes. it is a product that is used to wash vehicles with but you dont use the same ritual as you would a "regular" wash. and as far as learning a different ritual how hard is it to spray it on your MF instead of the vehicle?

Your right I have no idea what I'm talking about and thanks for explaining the difference between a QD and a wash. I had no idea they were different.:wall

Hey Bart, you're still wet behind the ears. :lmfao

That may be his problem. Being such a noob he must be spraying it behind his ears instead of on the car. Good thing he doesn't have a stable of black cars, they'd all be a mess. :nana:

Perfect timimg on how to use the Klasse 425 as I just posted about winning a bottle

FWIW, Klasse is a German company that makes KAIO & SG. Finish Kare is a company started by one of the wayward Meguiars and makes FK425 amongst other stuff. Not that it matters what you call it as long as it works for you.

Man, don't let that stop you. What's one more unused item in the closet?;)

I had high hopes for this seeing how my car is black and a dust magnet. I'm going to buy it anyways and see. But hey feel free to send me what u got felt no need for it to go to waste

My cars are both dark...I think my problem with the FK425 was user error combined with the humidity/heat. Use a very small amount of the product (just a very very fine mist, as Todd said, one small mist is enough for a whole panel), and wipe/buff off.

The times it's streaked on me, I t hink I was using too much AND it was very hot/humid.

The times it's gone on as it should, it's produced a very, very nice, slick shine. And it seems to be behaving better now that I adjusted the sprayer and limited my urge to use too much....

I use Hydro and have nothing but perfect results.

Blackfire Deep Gloss Spray is another product that always performs well. Yes, I know it's a sealant, and the gloss and protection show.

I would guess it was humidity more than anything.

Like I said in my first post it worked ok for me, It removed the dust and did not streak and had some gloss but nothing special about it.

I can buy any number of quick detailer's that will do just as well and some will even look better and they cost much less.

IF something cost twice the money I expect it to work better than the low price QD.
I can think of a lot of options that will outperform 425 that cost less so why should I pay more for less.

The Ole timers here already know this but for you who are new I have 3 Black vehicles I took one to a car show last week end and won Best in Class.
I demand the best from a detailer and was disappointed in FK425 for those that are offended by that get over it I'm not telling you not to use it.

I'm just saying it is not for me, When I submit my car for judging it dam well better be looking good.

I did not get a house full of Best of Show Trophies because I don't have a clue how to use a product and how to get the best results.

So seeing how it was a disappointment what would u recommend

With FK425 very little goes a very long way, particularly after your microfiber towel gets a little damp. A light mist is more than enough to cover an entire panel (half a hood/door/trunk,half roof/etc).

My suggestion would be to only squeeze the trigger about half way and move your hand quickly so you lay a thin, fine mist over the majority of the panel. Then spread it around/work it in, flip to a clean side of your microfiber, and buff.

Alterantively you can mist directly onto the microfiber and wipe in.

Todd this post had me thinking why would you recommend using such a small amount if you had any dust it would not be enough to lubricate and you would risk marring the finish.

The only thing I could think of is you are using it on a already clean car.

This morning I used FK425 on one of my cars that only had been driven 20 miles on pavement since it was detailed so while I'm sure it had some dust it was not visible.

This morning I used FK425 on it and it worked pretty good but I had a bottle of Lucas detailer that I had tried and did not really care for it either so I had been letting it sit on the self.

The Lucas and the FK425 both was easy to use and I could see NO difference between the two after applying.

The Lucas cost half what the 425 does so if you factor cost into it that would be a better choice.

If you use 425 on a clean car it works pretty good but no better than several others.

This reminds me of something I posted a few years ago on the old DC forum I took my car to a show and on one door I used a very expensive LSP on the rest of the car I used a LSP that cost 1/10th what the high end one did.
Not only did I win an award but I told dozens of people what I had done and ask them if they could tell it and they could not.

What does it prove, While people look for a magic bullet it don't exist.

The prep is the important part when you get the car prepped right then nearly any LSP will look good.

Whatever QD one chooses, because it's a frequently used product, I'd always buy one that is available in a gallon size ( if you've already tried the standard spray bottle size and you like it).

Yep and it saves on shipping cost if you only buy the little bottles you are ordering all the time.
I try to not buy in the mid winter months I have had stuff arrive frozen solid.
