Dodge Ram Restoration Detail

All the hard work put into this is surely evident, it looks as new. That brings me to a question though.......why so much time and effort for such a high mileage vehicle? Is it to ready it for sale?

Yeah this was for the dealership I work for during the week. I can get away with doing the bare minimum, and the owners would be fine with it. I usually use trucks like this as lab rats to test new products or techniques on since they are wholesale junkers to start with and anything is a drastic improvement over what they were. Thanks for all the compliments. I really appreciate it.

You did a great job!!

Red is my favorite color to wet sand and buff. once your done it forms a miracle. always looks good. I have done one with heavy oxidation, sun damage where the paint is small blistering, and Idaho pinstripes all over it. this truck was a 96 dodge 3500 old farm truck. wet sanded most of the truck and use 3 m compound, de-swirl it, and polish. truck look brand new just like your finish.
For the interior i had to pull out the bench seat, pull the back seats, pull the carpets out because they were covered in mud. (A extractor wouldn't even come close to get it clean.) Once i got the carpet out i sprayed engine degreaser all over it and pressure washed with hot water . Once i was finish took the extractor and sucked up most of the water then hung the carpet up on the wall for a day so it can dry. The next day the carpet looked brand new again. (if you were wondering it was the black grayish colored carpet that most dodge trucks have.)
This truck stayed on the car lot for 1 day.

Thanks. That sounds like what we get in at work every day. It just so happens this truck was sold right away and crashed the day after it was bought lol.

I'm sure this is like asking a woman's age or weight, but what did a correction and full detail job like this cost? Is this like a $200-$300 job or more like $500+?

Every area is different, and the area I live in is cheap. A person who trys to charge $500 for a detail and 2 step polish on an already nice car will starve to death here. If I was to do this truck on my time it would be around $400. If I was somewhere like FL this would have been a $700 job or more. However it was done at work while I was on the clock so it costed them much much less. Dealerships pay their detailers jack
