I ordered the Griot's garage 3 inch da polisher and the Poorboy's World Polish/Protect, PC7424XP combo. How much different are these tools as opposed to my cyclo I currently use?

well I can't comment on the 3" machine, but the PC will give you the correction ability you did not have with the one speed cyclo.
The cyclo is a nice machine for light polishing and for applying sealants, but with the PC you can do deep swirl and scratch removal with various strength pads and products. Hope that helps

I have never been unable to correct something with my cyclo, its just awkward in some places. I use the Rightlook.com cyclo kit. I have a wide array of pads, yellow wool heavy cut, blue wool light cut, yellow foam heavy cut, green foam, heavy polish, light compound, blue wool light polish, white foam final finish.....true cut compound and polish. Great products, just looking to expand my arsenal.

I dunno - I could correct things with my Cyclo just as well as with the PC. Granted, I didn't have one of the suped-up PC's to make this comparison with back then either. The Cyclo is a time-proven machine, it's just bulky in certain situations. I also wish it had more than one speed. Alas, I traded up from the Cyclo to a Flex. :)

I just couldnt justify the cost of the flex. i bought 2 machines for what i would have spent on a flex, and i still have my cyclo. I love that thing!!! The cyclo slows with pressure....kinda....The only 2 i have ever used have been a rotary and the cyclo, of and a regular orbital back in the day.

Flex's aren't that expensive considering you can get them on the second-hand market now. Last week I think I saw someone on "that other detailing board" that was selling their Flex for $150 shipped. For the semi-serious hobbyist, I think the Flex is the best machine you can get. If you get it, you'd most likely never need another machine. I know it's got it's limits and all, but for someone like me it fits the bill very nicely.

I dont know much about the 3 in Griots polisher, but I have the 6 in and love it. Very powerful machine for the money.

I can't address any differences as I've never used a Cyclo. You can get some light correction out of the 3" GG with the right pad and polish combo, pretty tough to find a decent selection of pads though. Richard Lin, Mr. Black WOW, stocks orange & white LC pads at his ShowCarDetailing site. AG has a few 3Ms & GG pads. The machine is handy for tight spots and working down low on front and rear fascia.

I use it most for spreading sealants & waxes or light paint cleaners. 4" pads don't work worth squat for correction but you can really go to town one-handed with a 4" blue or red pad spreading LSPs. I've found the 3" backing plate is handy for use on the PC as well.

I dont think I will ever purchase any used detailing equipment. Just not my style. I will just save up for the flex, or I might get enough compensation for lost wages from BP to purchase one as well....
