Premium Detailed - Garry Dean - Tampa, FL - 1993 Ford F150 Flare Side

Garry Dean

Garry Dean Quality!
This is a 1993 Ford Flare side F150. It has been sitting in my clients’ yard for over 2 years. One day, about 2 months ago, I asked him if the truck ran and he told me it did when he parked it. He just didn’t need it anymore. That’s all he really said and so I began working on his daily driver that I was there to detail. Last month I was at his place again and before I left I taped a small spot off and got out my PC and some Megs m105 and polished to show him what kind of potential the truck had. He was blown away. Last week I was there again for a maintenance wash and to my surprise when I pulled up the truck was pulled out into the middle of the main section of the driveway with the hood up. He had gotten it running and installed a new battery. He told me to “go to town” with my buffer. This truck really turned out great. My client was very happy with the result (Even if he hadn’t told me a thousand times how happy he was, I sure figured it out when he wrote the check for $100 more than I asked him for). I really love working on single stage paint, especially when the end result is this dramatic. Here is the detail.

Exterior paint:
* ONR wash
* Taped off all trim with 3M tape
* Compounded with Makita rotary
* Major painted areas were compounded with Wolfgang TSR and LC 6.5” Orange CCS
* Smaller areas were hand compounded with Meguiars m105 and LC Orange hand pads
* All chrome trim and bumpers were hand polished with Optimum Metal Polish and LC Orange hand pads
* The entire vehicle was polished and sealed with Optimum Poli-seal with PCXP and 5.5” Green LC CCS pads
* Exterior windows were cleaned with Meguiars Glass Cleaner Concentrate

Wheels and tires:
* Wheels were cleaned with Muriatic acid due to extreme brake dust buildup
* Tires were cleaned with purple Power
* Wheels were polished with Optimum Metal Polish
* Tires were dressed with Meguiars Hyper Dressing

These wheels were really gross. The before pic is of the wheels after I tried to clean them with every wheel cleaner known to mankind. I had to resort to the tough stuff, Muriatic acid.

Thank you very much for looking!

That's great, you probably motivated him into turning yard furniture into a salable vehicle. Just out of curiosity, what was the interior like?

The interior was pretty simple, but was also pretty nasty. He is a heavy smoker and had left old butts all over the interior. The windows had a layer of tar on them. I would imagine he will have it up for sale soon.

If I needed a truck I'd buy it now.

Great Job. I would of bought the truck when the paint was faded for cheap get it to run, buff it out, resell and make some $$$$ lol

Dont you love Opti Metal Polish. I got to try it out on the FX I did. The wheels where trashed and it did a great job bringing the paint back.

Nice turnaround Garry! I would have thought that was a repaint if I didn't know any better. :bigups

Did you use the pad cleaner when you finished that truck?

Nope, still haven't used that pad washer, lol. Thanks Mike.

Thanks Shawn, I actually did ask him if he would sell it to me before I showed him what kind of potential it had. Obviously, the answer was no.

You could of made a pretty penny off the truck if he did
