Going Under the Knife

i had fusion on my l5 s1 last july and im doing great .. worked my ass off in therapy and i drastically changed my lifestyle .. no more heavy lifting / mostly walking and some machines .. also do my core exercises and stretches .. its a slow process but the one thing ive heard from people who get better and re injure themselves is that they felt so good they started doing things they shouldnt be doing and when they re injure themselves its permanent .. i started doing things i havent done in years and one day i said to myself ...are you stupid ? did you forget the agony/ crippling pain and misery of living on painkillers and being unable to do anything i enjoyed like playing with my kids and other things i really like doing ...yeah that ...good luck and please take care of yourself when you get home and dont ever forget the misery you are in at this moment ....ill be praying for your speedy recovery ..

Good luck John and many blessings. Haven't had surgery but I do have 4 bulged disc. The only thing that helped me is therapy.I was out of work for 3 months and did therapy the whole time. well worth it to me. The bs pain killers did nothing. I hate taking that stuff anyway. I agree with big ron and the others, It is a life style change.

I'm home after a successful surgery. Thanks for all the support, my friends. I should be rehabbing for three weeks, then hopefully back to work.

Glad to hear the surgery went well, Jay . . . now give that rehab your all, but don't push yourself TOO hard!! Remember . . . slow & steady :bigups

That is absolutely great news Jay and I'm happy to hear it. Thanks for letting us know.

Now do what they say and get back to 100% as patiently as you can!!! Just goes to show ya, can't keep the best ones down!

As others have offered, if there is anything I can do to help you out just let me know. I'm just a little west of you.

I am very glad to hear that your surgery went well. Now might be a good time to pull out the old photos from the coal country. Enjoy some time off and take it easy.:bigups

Thanks again, Norah. My follow-up appointment is a month out, so it appears that I may have time to "Chat" now.:)

Glad to hear everything is o.k. Good luck on your rehab.
I appreciate the good thoughts, Augustine.

Glad to hear everything is good. Enjoy rehab.
Thanks, JT

HaHa! Where do you think I got the bad back? Thanks, Dave!

I hear you, Ron! We are truely neurotic! I had great difficulty shaving this morning. I mean the simple act of cupping water in my hands and bringing it up to my face caused severe pain.

But what am I worried about? The dang four days of pollen on my truck! How sick is that ?! I've actually thought through the process... let's see... if I hose it off, I'll have to dry it... no... can't possibly do that... hmmm... if I can manage to get on a ladder, maybe I can throw a waffle weave over it a copule of times...!!!

For crying out loud, guys, I need Electro Shock Therapy, not Neurosurgery! :D
