Good polishes at Autozone?

When I first started trying to detail cars I used the Meguiar's Deep Crystal Trio with a wax spreader type of Wal Mart polisher. While I wasn't achieving any real correction (because of the machine) The polish from that trio did seem to gloss things up nicely. As I recall it was a pretty mild polish, not too hard to work with. I think with a PC and a few different pads to choose from it may be something worth trying. They were sold seperately back then. Good luck, TD

I think Mother's has a few polishes that might be pretty nice. Also ColorX is a pretty good AIO. They may also have Meg's Ultimate Compund and SwirlX - while I have not used them, I have read that they are pretty nice.

Yes they have UC (much better then 105 IMHO) and SwirlX.

Look up Auto Body Supply places in the phone book. They'll carry better products and it will still be local.

One of my local parts store has a full line of 3M products.
AZ would probably cost more than Wal-Mart so their are probably better options than going to AZ for detailing supplies.

I think a lot of people used that product line years ago. The paint cleaner was nice and I share the same memory that the polish was pretty mild but did leave a nice looking, if not defect free, finish. Not a bad option at all back then. Since that time there have been a few additions to the shelves. The new Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and Swirl-X combo have been compared to the highly regarded Mirror Glaze 105/205. That does not necessarily discount the viability of the Deep Crystal 1 & 2, just that there are now additional options using newer technologies.

I was thinking very mild being that he is dealing with that soft jet black. I believe the orange pad did him in though.

Yeah, I see where your coming from and agree for the most part. This must be some soft paint. Some of the Hondas Ive seem have soft paint, but I never had this kind of issue with using the flat orange pads from AG or the CCS orange pads. I'm definitely tuned into this one to see what the final resolution is.
